No, Songbird will not delete your iTunes library if you import your iTunes data.

When Songbird imports from iTunes it only reads the content from your iTunes library file and doesn't modify it in any way.

First, thanks to everyone for bringing an issue to our attention!

Our QA team looked into this further today and it appears like there's a bug in Songbird where we only properly import ratings the first time the iTunes importer is run. If you subsequently run the importer, we don't get any ratings. We intend to address this as soon as possible and should have a fix in our next release.

A comment on the question "Can I import ratings from itunes?" in Songbird:

Unfortunately, Songbird doesn't currently support importing directly from Media Monkey or Music Match. So importing ratings over from those apps into Songbird isn't currently possible. Importing from those apps are great suggestions and I'll be sure to add them to our feature request list. – Daniel Raffel, on September 03, 2008 16:34

Yes, Songbird can import ratings from iTunes!

By default iTunes doesn't write album art back to the original file. So we are working on a way to read each media items associated album artwork when we import it.

It was a tough decision. To be fair though, we did communicate this on our blog back in July. My apologies for not calling it out in our email/blog post for the beta release, it was simply an oversight on my part.

absolutely, there are two ways to access this functionality:

1) right click on the miniplayer and enable the option 'Always on Top'

2) navigate to the View Menu and enable the option 'Always on Top'
