While we won't be officially supporting PowerPC builds we do encourage community developers to continue to contribute and maintain their own build if they are interested in doing so. If you're interested, please visit our developer forum.

Daniel Raffel replied on July 15, 2008 02:40 to the question "What does it mean that the Songbird PowerPC (PPC) version is unofficial?" in Songbird:
As an unofficial platform, this effectively means:
* No Songbird QA testubg.
* PPC bugs/issues won't block a future release.
* No Songbird-released PPC builds will be released; if there is community support for such builds, they can be found in our contrib directory.
* No automatic updates from previous releases.
* PPC feature parity may be lagging or lacking in certain areas.

danielraffel replied on June 22, 2008 02:47 to the discussion "Why was watch-folders punted for the next release of Songbird?" in Songbird:
We understand watch folders are a highly requested feature and we fully intend to implement them in Songbird!
When we finished engineering planning for the next release and looked at the amount of work we have to do we realized we couldn't commit to implementing all of the Watch Folders components during the next releases timeframe. Unfortunately, we pretty much had no choice but to punt this feature for now. The good news is we will attempt to implement a native file system notifier API during this release so we are planning to lay some critical groundwork for this feature.
While the remaining work for implementing Watch Folders isn't currently scheduled we're hoping to land the feature either as an add-on sometime after this release or one to two releases out from now. When we have a more definitive date for this I'll be sure to update the Roadmap and this thread.
danielraffel replied on June 21, 2008 00:00 to the problem "The lack of the horizontal scrollbar" in Songbird:
What wild timing! One of our engineers was just exploring improvements to the Library and Playlists and got a prototype working with horizontal scrollbars (and columns that resize in more logical ways.) We still have some more work to do to work out a few small kinks but things are looking good that we'll have a fix for this in time for our next release. Thanks for reporting this issue!
