Dropbox mass deletes 1000+ files occassionally without any apparent reason.I have a folder shared with a few people, one of them uses several PCs. Now, without any apparent reason or actions on his part files are mass deleted (not all and not clear why those files) and it's a PITA to restore them.
Danila Medvedev reported a problem in Dropbox on March 05, 2009 20:59:
Dropbox can't sync non-existing fileThe error message is:
"Can't sync "B26A~1"; directory not empty"
There was a folder with this name (with many subfolders), which was mistakenly created. I deleted it from the web interface, it's no longer there, but Dropbox complains (in its status messages (tooltip and menu)) that it can't sync it.
What should I do?
Danila Medvedev asked a question in BumpTop on January 15, 2009 08:05:
BumpTop looks stretched on a 3360x1050Bumptop looks badly on a dual widescreen setup (I used Matrox DualHead to go to connect two 22" 1680x1050 displays to my ASUS laptop). The perspective is too stretched.
Danila Medvedev replied on January 15, 2009 08:01 to the problem "Cyrillic symbols" in BumpTop:
I have this problem too, it immediately spoils all the fun when you see your desktop with weird characters instead of Russian (Cyrillic) letters. It's a bit unprofessional. First, Unicode support has been available for many years in MS Windows OS and second, everyone should know by now that there is more than one language in the world. They are Russian users, Japanese, Korean and Chinese ones, Israeli users, Arabian, etc.-

Danila Medvedev replied on January 03, 2009 17:50 to the problem "False conflicted copies are created" in Dropbox:
I can confirm that this problem still remains in version 0.6.416.
Additionally, it happens with Opera, when the profile folder is dropboxed (with autosave.win and a few other files). In all cases, the conflicted copies are created by the installation on a machine where Opera and ThinkingRock are never run.

Installation of the Ribbon for PowerPoint fails due to Visual Studio Tools errorI can't install the Ribbon. I have Vista, I am not sure how to check which .Net version I have. I have Russian version of Office 2007.
The following error is displayed during the installation:
Component Visual Studio Tools for the Office system 3.0 Runtime Service Pack 1 has failed to install with the following error message:
"Fatal error during installation. "
The following components failed to install:
- Visual Studio Tools for the Office system 3.0 Runtime Service Pack 1

A comment on the problem "False conflicted copies are created" in Dropbox:
I can already say that ThinkingRock doesn't lock its database file. I can not only view it, but even edit (while TR is running). I think it just gets overwritten by the currently running copy of ThinkingRock.
P.S. I know that other ThinkingRock users (and even it's developers) rely on Dropbox for syncing, but there is no easy way to find if they also have such conflicts. – Danila Medvedev, on November 11, 2008 02:04

False conflicted copies are createdI am using ThinkingRock with the data XML file stored in a dropbox folder.
Very often I am getting a "conflicted copy" of this XML file created in the folder.
The source of my confusion is that there is no way that the file could be changed on another machine.
I am using OMEGA as my desktop, FREEDOM is a notebook nearby. FREEDOM is on, but ThinkingRock is NOT running there.
I am using TR on OMEGA and occasionally I get a pop up telling me that a file was updated. When I check it, I see a "FREEDOM conflicted copy" of the main trx file (dan (FREEDOM's conflicted copy 2008-10-21).trx).

I sent a copy of this report to support@twitter.com and after a while the frend request function started to work again. No word from support though, neither here, no in email.
Danila Medvedev replied on October 01, 2008 10:29 to the problem "Friend Requests Broken" in Twitter:
I have a similar problem, but with no error messages.
I have receveid an e-mail about a user who wants to follow me (a follower request). However, when I click on the http://twitter.com/friend_requests link, I get a message there that says "You have no follower requests at this time."
I know this user IRL, he is really trying to friend me on Twitter. He is not listed as one of my followers. I am already following him. I have my twitter updates in private mode.

Changes from linked NTFS folders are not propagatedI created a subfolder in Dropbox and then created NTFS links there from another disk. The files have been uploaded to the web service and synced to other computers, but then syncing stopped/failed.
I create a file inside Dropbox and it's synced instantly.
I create a file inside linked folder and it just stays here (it doesn't matter if I create it from Dropbox or from another disk - files created inside linked folder always have a green checkmark).
If I create a file in such subfolder on another computer, it GETS SYNCED to my primary PC. But then, if I delete it on my primary PC, it still stays on another PC.
