danks626 reported a problem in Dell on October 23, 2008 08:18:
dell m1330 battery deadI bought a Dell XPS M1330 laptop in September of 2007, and two weeks after the one year warranty expired (September of 2008) I received a notice that my battery was reaching the end of its usable life. I clicked on the suggested bubble that popped up (in the bottom right of the screen next to the clock). I am a graduate student with very little money, and I even applied my student discount to the replacement battery. All-in-all, the only solution that was offered to me was to purchase an equivalent battery for $150! This is my first non-Apple computer, and it makes me want to never buy another Dell! The battery was clearly designed to fail just beyond the coverage of the warranty, and that really makes me mad.
At the time of purchase I had complete confidence in this product. Now my laptop has been functionally reduced to a desktop; within one year! I feel as though Dell has completely misrepresented the quality of their product. I understand that battery technology (my roommate is an engineering graduate student), but this is unacceptable and well below industry standard.
Has anyone else had this problem?
