Short URLs available from directly in Littlesnapper.
I find myself using Littlesnapper quite often to upload a screenshot and then share it via twitter or IM.

Would it be possible to add a "grab short URL" button to the post-upload dialogue box, to get an http://embr.it short URL, rather than using a third party shortening service.

This way, it's better for the web (re: the rev="canonical" debate) and also nice, quick and easy to get a short url for an upload.

Send To Littlesnapper Mac Via Web.
Add an option to send snaps and your photos from your iPhone to your littlesnapper library on your mac via the web.

This would be done by uploading the image to a private (not publicly visible) collection on quicksnapper, then either "pushing" or clicking a button to "fetch" snaps from that private web pool to your littlesnapper.

I realise this is possible via uploading to quicksnapper, then downloading the snap to your library. But you must do this by manually navigating with your browser to your QS account, and downloading snaps individually.

This way, it is built into the app, is a one-click process, the photos do not become publicly visible just for the sake of being able to get them onto LS, it's a batch process, and could also be fully automated, and fully awesome.

I'm not sure, it's hard to do short to the point messages from schmownce notes because they have no titles, so there are a few ways it could be done:

    1. The naked link, with a description added by the user, or not. People clicking through will see that it is a schmownce public note, and who the user is.

    Format:

"http://tinyurl.com/jsi2 - Check this out, found an awesome image yesterday, what a beautiful view"

I think this is the best implimentation because it isn't too spammy.

    ----

    2. The ultimate cross posting/spam way:

    format:

    "A *note/link/file/event* from *Daniel M* on schmownce: http://tinyurl.com/2jur"

This is okay, but might be really annoying to see in a twitter timeline, and might annoy twitter users, and get some people blocked.

    3. The 'Via' Route.

The user types a description out and schmownce appends the link and the string "(Via Schmownce)" to the END of the users added blurb. Of course the blurb's character limit would have to reflect 140 characters MINUS the link's length and the advertising string.

    format:

"Check out this awesome video of Metallica! - http://tinyurl.com/jme8 (Via Schmownce)"

    or even :

"Check out this awesome video of Metallica! - http://tinyurl.com/jme8 (Via *Daniel M* on Schmownce)

This is a nice compromise, but i still think number one is ideal.

(Where all information in stars is dynamically replaced depending on the note type/username).

This is just an idea, but i think it would be cool. You would turn on and store your twitter credentials in the settings page.

And you could post anybody's notes, anything you find interesting really!

    Twitter Cross - Posting.
Add twitter cross-posting buttons. This would allow schmownce users to use the service as something comparable to twitpic/twinkle, and would perhaps drag in users from twitter too?

Pressing the post to twitter button would take the URL of the public note, shorten it using tinyurl or a similar service, then paste that link into another input box, in a lightbox-style input div that appears above the page.

You can then add details until your character limit is reached. Would be a cool little side-feature.

Sorry, i didn't realise you were running on Ruby, i assumed PHP what with the refresh of the page after submitting stuff (hence suggesting wordpress).

Thanks for replying to my idea anyways, definitely something worth thinking about. Good luck with the new features guys, and can you hook us up with a 'featured schmowncers' page, because i haven't added any friends yet!

    All the best, dan.

Schmownce as hosted software/ A wordpress extension.
This is one thing that i've had in my brain for a while now and now that schmownce is here it seems like an apt time to bring this to the people.

It would be absolutely brilliant if schmownce could create downloadable, and installable, micro-blogging software that is open and free to use. I loved Pownce, and i like schmownce already just for the ability to post more than is available to you on twitter, but i'd love to be able to install a version of this onto my personal site.

The other idea i had was to create a wordpress plugin that allowed you to post quick items, notes and images to your wordpress posts timeline, without having to publish a full new post. Sort of "schmownce" formatted mini-posts. But ones that you could style with an icon so that people can tell that it's a quick link, message, event, or other.

Just something that's been mulling around my head for a while, make of it what you will.

    Enhanced/Quicker Post Functionality.
I like how socialthing aggregates everything into one place, and i like the idea of posting a facebook status from here, or a twitter status from here, but i'd like the option to be able to post multiple media types to pownce without going to their site.

I think a good way to get into this would be to bring up a box with 30px x 30px icons, or maybe smaller, when you click "post", you can then select the services you wish to post to (or just select an option that says 'all') and the posting box adjusts accordingly. Therefore if you JUST click pownce you get options to post a link, file or event, but if you click multiple, you just get a normal post box. This option of being able to select the services you want to post to BEFORE you reach the text input reduces the number of clicks needed to change the services you're posting to later on. Of course maybe it would be wise to be able to select the old method in the settings pane.
