And I'll put a word in for you on the expat-TV front: there is certainly some will to make this happen, but still very big hurdles in terms of both the BBC's charter and the global rights negotiations that would be needed.

Hi Geoff,

The problem was caused by an update to a JavaScript component used by the iPlayer site. This has been fixed now - please let me know if you're still seeing any problems with the site.

BTW clearing your cache will not break anything - the cache is an area used by your browser to download temporary copies of files on the Internet. Your browser will delete these files itself from time-to-time, deleting them yourself merely speeds up this process. If the browser doesn't find a file it needs in the cache, it will always get the latest version from the Internet.

Hi Geoff,

The Screenshot didn't come through - if you're able to attach it, that would be handy.

I've tried reproducing your errors on the Radio 4 listen live page, but everything works fine both on IE and FF.

From the error messages, it looks very much like as though some of the JavaScript files you're accessing are old cached versions. Please try clearing your cache and again refreshing the page. If you're using a proxy server to access the web, this may also cause problems with cacheing - if possible, try accessing the website directly without going through a proxy server.

I will pass this on to the relevant team for them to try to reproduce your problems, but in the meantime please let me know if you get it working.

Could you send me a URL where you are seeing these errors?

Also, are you seeing this problem in both IE and FireFox?

If you try a force-refresh of the page (Ctrl+F5) does this help matters?

Finally, if possible, it would be handy if you could paste a screenshot to show us how the affected page looks.

Which download software are you using, "BBC iPlayer Download Manager" or "BBC iPlayer Desktop"

This is a little strange - Adobe have confirmed that fullscreen in both Flash (i.e. iPlayer steaming via website) and AIR (iPlayer Desktop) disables the system screensaver. I will continue trying to investigate this, but it sounds like there should be something else on your system which is re-activating the screensaver.

I'll check again with Adobe, they told me that fullscreen will automatically disable screensavers but perhaps it doesn't work properly on Mac.

Can I just check - are you going fullscreen via the button below the video, not the maximise button at the top of the app?

Only labs at the moment (though anyone can sign up to use it... but content is rather limited for the next few days).

It should be on general release around February.

I just checked, and this should already be default behaviour (i.e. fullscreen disables the screensaver) in the *new* Desktop software.

I'm afraid this software is no longer being developed, so the answer is almost certainly "no". I will investigate whether it's possible to include this feature in the replacement software, BBC iPlayer Desktop.

Which version of iPlayer are you using? The version embedded in iPlayer web pages, the Windows software (an application called "BBC iPlayer - Download Manager") or the new Windows/Mac/Linux software (which is called "BBC iPlayer Desktop").

This can happen for a variety of reasons. If you right-click on the player, you will see a menu which includes "Copy error message". Click on that, and it will copy a more detailed error message into your clipboard. If you paste it here I may be able to work out what broke.
