I'm in a bit of a bind, because, as an Adobe employee, I'm probably not supposed to comment on when this bug might be fixed, or in what upcoming version of the AIR runtime the fix might be available. So I'm going to just say again, we are WELL AWARE of this problem. Personally I will add that I find it annoying too and can't wait to see it fixed myself.

I just noticed that John Nack, principal product manager for Photoshop, posted some info yesterday on his blog about this question. See here: http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2008/08/....

This is a crazy problem, what kind of voodoo is Adobe AIR doing on the Mac to open a link? Why does it differ from the default behaviour of opening a link from any other normal application on the Mac OS, which works fine and lets the default browser i.e. Firefox open a new tab, if that's the desired user preference. This just makes no sense and needs to be fixed, not maybe, not perhaps - it should be fixed, and it should be made a priority.

Since the problem in the mac with Firefox, does that mean it will never be fixed because we are a minority? At least and ETA or something along the lines of 'it will be fixed in 1.2' would be plenty, but acknowledging the problem and then shoving it aside is not very good PR.
I consider this a MAJOR problem with mac version of your software, downright usable.

Just wanted to say, we are aware of this problem with navigateToURL() in AIR when Firefox/Mac is the default browser, and we are tracking it. To the best of our knowledge it is only a problem on the Mac, not with Firefox for Windows.
I can't promise if or when it will be fixed, but I hope that it's at least some comfort that it's on our list.
David Coletta replied on July 03, 2008 14:58 to the question "How do I uninstall Adobe AIR-based Apps from my mac?" in Adobe:
On the Mac, you can just drag the AIR application to the Trash. More info here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewC...
By the way, AIR apps no longer get installed to ~/Applications on the Mac. That was how it worked in beta versions of AIR, but as of AIR 1.0, they are installed to /Applications like most other Mac applications are.

glad to hear it!
If you have another minute, I would appreciate it very much if you could send me the email exchange you had with Adobe tech support. Please send it to buzzword_feedback@adobe.com and mention my name. Thanks!

Hi, I'm one of the acrobat.com software developers, and I think I can help.
First of all, I want to apologize if you had a bad experience with our tech support. I would like to find out more about exactly what happened there later.
Let me offer you an alternative way to sign up that you can try:
1) Visit https://buzzword.acrobat.com
2) Click on the Sign Up button in the upper right area of the page
3) Fill in the Sign Up panel that appears
4) After you finish the Sign Up process, you will enter Buzzword, one of the Acrobat.com applications.
5) Click on the Buzzword logo in the upper left area of the page.
6) Pick "Sign Out" from the menu that appears.
7) Another Sign In screen will appear. Be sure to click "Remember Me", and sign in again.
Now that you have signed in with "remember me" turned on, you can use all of Acrobat.com without having to sign in again, and when you return to the main page (www.acrobat.com) you won't have the problem you were having before.
If you try the above steps and you hit the same error, then I'd like to hear more details -- please provide the exact error message and ideally a screen shot if possible.

Mario Menti replied on May 03, 2008 13:26 to the question "How do I change the OpenID associated with my twitterfeed account?" in twitterfeed:
If it's only 1 or 2 feeds, the easiest thing may be to log in with our old OpenID and delete/disable the twitter feeds, and then set them up again once you're logged in with the new OpenID. If you have lots of twitterfeeds, I can change this manually in the database. In that case, please send me an email (mario at menti dot net) with the twitter username/password (so I can verify this matches my db and that you own the twitter account), together with the old and new OpenID URLs you want me to update.
David Coletta asked a question in twitterfeed on May 03, 2008 10:33:
How do I change the OpenID associated with my twitterfeed account?I set up a twitterfeed account using a Yahoo OpenID, but then I set up delegation from my web site to myOpenID, so now I'd like to change my twitterfeed OpenID.
Can I do that?
