Ingestion ListEvery week, I develop an Ingestion List that I put near the server so that interns or other employees can help me with getting files into the server. It also helps me keep track of what I've ingested. This is just a word doc that I developed with a table that contains information such as Show ID#, Run Date, Show Title, etc. From week to week I either type or print shows I need to get into the server.
WHAT IF...when you added a new show through Cablecast, there was an option to "add to ingestion list" and when you were done scheduling for that period, you could spit out an ingestion list generated by Cablecast?
It's obviously not something that needs to be addressed immediately, but it might be a nice luxury. Thanks.

Hey Ray -
I can see how it might work for some, but not others. Let me be specific on how I usually handle live encoding and I think you'll see where it might help me out...
We're lucky enough to have fiber connections straight to our router, so It's sweet to be able to encode city council and school committee meetings as they run live. I have one show ID # for the live run, and after every new meeting, I go in and change the ID # to a different show ID that I use for replays. As we back up all the meetings on DVD, I delete the previous meeting, so I alway just have the most recent one on the server. I do the same thing for live monthly studio shoots.
So, if you follow my process, you'll see that it might be helpful for me to have some sort of checkbox that would automatically record a run when that specific live ID # is scheduled.
Hope that makes sense.

Record Run PresetHopefully this isn't something that's already possible and I just didn't know about it, but what if a user could have a show ID predisposed to record the run each time it's scheduled.
This would be helpful with things such as live meetings or live studio shoots that get recorded as they go out live.
It would also help forgetful programmers who sometimes neglect to set a run to be recorded and have to ingest it the next day.-

John -
I continue to get the error message regarding the zip code. I checked this morning and the zip codes are where they need to be, yet the messages keep coming. Also, what's the deal with the first error message? I get that one daily too.

It doesn't seem to be hurting performance, but I thought you'd like to know.

Hey John -
I knew something had changed - mostly because for a couple of days I couldn't find where to select the zip code. If I remember correctly, in previous versions it was in the settings.
The zip code had the correct numbers for the first three (019) but the last two were wrong. The correct ones are "70" and I believe the wrong numbers were "29" - although I can't be sure.
It seems to be all set now, though. Thanks!

What does this error message mean? We've been getting the following error message lately:
CABLECAST-SX4 Error in UpdateDynamicPage(): invalid zip code 9/16/2009 6:01:26 AM error TRMS.Services.Carousel.DynamicUpdater
I'm assuming this has to do with the weather service, and doesn't seem to be affecting operation too much. Should I ignore it?

I knew I couldn't have been alone in this.
We used to do an "audible" bulletin board for the visually impaired as well. I'd have to record the Carousel scroll off the air and have volunteers do a voice-over in a linear edit booth. Well, now that technology is gone and so is my audible bulletin board. Many elderly and blind citizens still ask me about it to this day.
What I'm wondering is if TRMS has ever discussed adding some sort of speech add-on to Carousel so that bulletins can be both seen and heard. This would be a great feature so that everyone can stay abreast of what's going on in the community.

Sample software for usersI love the training videos for Cablecast and Carousel. They're a very useful tool for training interns and new staff members on the software. I wonder, however, if you'd consider offering a stripped-down version of the software - especially Cablecast - so that new users might get used to working with it without messing with my schedule or show records? To me, it's a logical step to try some things on your own after watching a training video. Thanks for considering.
