I agree. I didn't even think about the links taking viewers away from my site until I'd already embedded the bookshelfs.
As a paying Issuu Pro user I'd expect a better level of integration with my site. The bookshelf embed is a big step forward but I'm paying for this service and expect the service to enhance what I offer my viewers. Not use my products and site as a vehicle to push viewers to Issuu's site where they are exposed to opposition publications.
I accept the Issue logo displayed on the bookshelf imbed (although I consider it too intrusive) so Issuu's branding is already I my site. Surely its not a big job to add an arguement to the folder embed which gives the option of open link in "x" page for Pro users?

Woot. Works great. I now have a back catalogue of publications on my site: http://www.repa.com.au/real_estate_ma...
A couple of suggestions...
Ideally I'd like to remove the self by Issuu logo. However, I realise you need to promote your business. But is there any chance the logo could be a bit smaller, more transparent or placed in the background area?
Also I really like to see the shelf background customisable. It's not such an concern on my site but other sites might benefit from being able to set the shelf colour to suit their design. Belive it or not, not everyone like gray or woodgrain.
David Langford replied on May 26, 2009 05:46 to the question "We are on Pro but how do we get rid of 'Related' documents?" in Issuu:
My two cents worth...
I agree that the Pro version should have more customisation options - including getting rid of the sidebar.
Pro users pay for the service and I would think in most cases its used for commerical purposes. It stands to reason that commericial enterprises are not going to want to have a compeditor's product appear next to their publications.
I do appreciate the idea of "community" that Issuu promotes. But I believe that is the domain of the free version, not the paid Pro version. Pro (paying) customers should at least have the option of disabling this feature.

A few ideas I'd like to see added to IssuuI have a few ideas which would make life a little easier for those of us that publish regular editions. In no particular order...
1. Save publication upload details so they don't have to be filled out every time I upload a document. My publications are weekly, the only details that change are the title dates.
2. A tool to dynamically generate cover thumbnails for insertion into websites. I currently have to create cover thumbnails of every publication I upload for inclusion on my website.
3. Dynamically generate a library of past issues for a publication (or the contents of a folder) and the ability to embed the library in a website. My readers and customers require access to back issues. Currently I manually create a past issue page of publications (http://www.repa.com.au/archive.php).
4. Save embedding settings as the default. I embed my Issuus as 100% x 100%. It would be nice if the embedding wizard could remember my settings.
5. Change the embed wizard genrated code back to the way it was a month ago - when I had the option of stripping out the containingand links to full page etc.
Thanks again for providing a great online publishing tool.
Cheers
David

David Langford asked a question in Issuu on March 19, 2009 23:54:
Can I automatically generate thumbnails of my publications? We have four publications which we are currently looking to host through Issuu Pro and embed in our website.
On the website we have the most recent covers of each publication in the footer as a link to the embedded Issuu mag. The auto update feature is fantastic as we won't have to manually update our pages (thanks Issuu guys). However we still have to manually update the thumbnail cover images.
What I'd really like to do is...
1. Dynamically generate the cover images based on the most recent issue in an auto update folders.
2. Be able to specify a link on the thumbnail so the image is linked to my embed page not the Issuu page.
Is there a way to do this? Can I achive this sort of thing using a mini-issuu?
Sample embed page here: http://www.repa.texaslily.com/current...
Thanks
Dave

Issues with Issuu (or how can I do this?)Hi
We are looking at using Issuu for our weekly publications. I've signed up for the Pro version but need some help with...
1. Under the My Library section, how do i delete folders and shelves from under their respective sections. I can delete the content of the folders, but not the folders.
2. Can I customise my profile "Home" page to remove comments, shelf, friends etc.?
3. Can I embedd the dynamically contents of a folder or bookmarks in a webpage to create an archive of my publications? Or is there an archive function for past/more issues? See the archive function at the bottom of this page: http://focus.realviewtechnologies.com...
BTW. Fantastic idea.
