Caragustus: if you're using the contacts pane and selecting them, try using the right click menu (or command-click if you're on a mac) and selecting Add to Bcc field. – David Ascher, on April 13, 2009 06:19

carlagustus, FYI, in Thunderbird 3, there will be an Add to Bcc: button in the contacts pane. – David Ascher, on April 13, 2009 06:17

I must have misunderstood the question of "add a default bcc". For many people, they want a bcc to their own email account, and doing so in the account preferences is the right way.
I have to say i don't understand specifically what you're trying to do, and I'm not convinced you both have the same needs. From what window, what are you selecting that you want to have "Add to Bcc:"?
From the message composition dialog, you can pick the To: field and make it be Cc or Bcc or whatever else you want. New email addresses that you add to that email will pick up whatever the last one is, so if you pick Bcc for the first, then you'll have Bcc for the others by default.
From the contacts sidebar, you can select names, and the context (right-click) menu lists Add to Bcc.
Can you be specific about where you're not seeing the option you're looking for?

That sounds wonderful! I've seen requests for Incredimail (not even sure what it is, frankly), and I'm sure others would love to have an answer there.
My suggestion is to publish the software in source code as well, so that people who are interested can help fix bugs, make sure it's secure, etc. I'd recommend code.google.com, or github.com, as a place to post the code.
Thanks!

There's no built-in feature for that, but I think that there are add-ons that should help:
For example:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thun...
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thun...
Hope this helps!
davidascher replied on March 26, 2009 05:55 to the question "size of e-mail / clean-up of e-mail" in Mozilla Messaging:
Yeah, good idea. Thunderbird knows the size of emails after it downloads them (and I think IMAP servers also publish that).
We have thought about a disk-space viewer concept, which would be useful in figuring out what folders & emails are using the most space.
It would be a really cool add-on as well.

Shirley -- I'm sorry you lost email. I know I hate it when I lose work.
I'm surprised that the update process caused the email to get lost -- it's supposed to ask you whether you're ok with restarting, and if you have an email being composed, it should have asked you whether you wanted to save that draft as part of the restarting process. It might be worth checking out the Drafts folder, which is where I'd expect it to have been saved.
I'm very sorry that you lost time. We try hard to make Thunderbird _save_ you time, so it's indeed unfortunate that the update (which is necessary to keep you as safe as possible from viruses and the like) resulted in that loss.
To avoid this in the future, it'd be good to check and make sure that the Auto Save option is checked in the Preferences dialog, as that should cause Drafts to be maintained so that the maximal amount of time that would be loss in the case of a crash is 5 minutes worth of work.
