davidascher replied on March 23, 2009 17:15 to the problem "Thunderbird Auto-Updates Breaks Thunderbird" in Mozilla Messaging:
I suspect you have or had a logitech webcam. There's a known incompatibility, where the best way around it is:
"Uninstall the Logitech Quickcam software. Once uninstalled you will be able to install Thunderbird without any problems. If you want to keep your Quickcam software installed you can try to shut it down from the taskbar. Still the surest way to fix this is to just uninstall your Quickcam software. After you have completed the Thunderbird upgrade you can then reinstall the Quickcam Software."

I wonder if somehow you have outgoing news postings that Thunderbird is trying to send out. I would look in the "Local Folders" area in the left folder pane, under "Unsent", and see if there are strange messages there. If there are, delete them, and then I suspect Thunderbird won't ask about news servers.
Let us know how it goes!

Hmm, that sounds like a bug. Could you file a bug at

attaching the email in question would be great as long as it's not private.

Columns will still be there, no worries.
As to when it'll be done -- we don't publish a schedule, as we call the software done when it's ready, not when a particular date passes. If you're keen, feel free to use beta releases: http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US...

Is this reproducible? (can you make this happen reliably with a specific image?) If so, it'd be good to file a bug at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bu... and attach the images in question.
davidascher replied on March 16, 2009 01:39 to the problem "Font size problems in Thunderbird 2 - Suggestions for 3" in Mozilla Messaging:
Yes, I agree, we need to find a way to let people reset the size of multi-sized messages. I've marked https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug... as a 'wanted-thunderbird3' bug, to see if we can get some more traction on it.
As to: "Also, sometimes my cursor just disappears, and I can't figure out where I am without typing a letter and then trying to move it with cursor keys. Why does that happen? "
That's unfortunately a bug in the underlying platform. It may have been fixed in later versions, though, so you might try the Thunderbird 3 betas, and see if that problem still occurs.
