Username Changed Without My ConsentThis morning I signed into Gowalla and noticed my account ID (in the URL) had changed. The number '2' had been added to the end of it. I quickly went to the edit page and was able to re-establish my original username. But this is definitely somewhat disheartening as I do not want to lose my username. Thankfully, it didn't happen, but whatever did happen (sometime in the last two days) it might have left my original username open for someone else to use.
Can someone confirm what happened? And that this won't happen again?

So, I won't be able to check in at a place more than once in the future? Normally no reason I'd want to, unless I need icons. :) I suppose that would be the reason to limit it, so someone can't load up on icons?
Then again, checking in again to survey a spot and drop an icon might actually be cool to do. So maybe prevent a Gowaller (? :) from picking up icons if checking in again, but fine to drop one?
With geocaching, you are welcome to visit a site again, but your "score" for "found" caches doesn't go up any, only on original finds. Perhaps a model there to consider.
Just tossing ideas, take them or leave them. :)

David Russell marked one of Adam McManus' replies in Gowalla as useful. Adam McManus replied to the question "Gave Away All My Icons".

Gave Away All My IconsYes, that's what I did. I gave away all my icons. I guess I thought I could take icons from any Spot without leaving one. So when I finally arrived at a Spot with other icons, I couldn't take any of them. :( There are some nifty ones at the U.S. Capitol that I'd like to go back for. :) As it stands, I'm sort of locked, since I don't know of another way of acquiring icons than this exchange method at Spots.
Perhaps there should be a warning of sorts (or a measure of prevention) to help folks not do the same thing I did. Just a thought.
Still love this game! :)

Adding Spot Details LaterI like the idea of adding a description of a spot, especially here in historic Washington, DC, USA. But at 38°F today in the city, I didn't feel like punching in a lot of text about the spots I was commissioning. Plus, there is much historic information that one could draw from and that is more easily entered via keyboard. (Sorry, iPhone.)
Ideally, one would be able to edit the spot details later. I've also noted a spelling error for another local Spot. Editing Spot details would help that "commissioner", too. :) (http://support.gowalla.com/discussion...)

Photos of SpotsI'd like to suggest the idea of adding an option to upload photos of Spots during the commission process.

Check Marks on Spots Search PageFor some reason, there is no check mark beside several of the local Spots where I have checked in. I assume the check mark is to illustrate this. Or does it illustrate where I have dropped an icon? In my case, only one Spot has a check mark beside it. The list I am referring to appears on the Spots Search page.
