Hi Ted,
Several months ago, Best BuyTM Co., Inc. began selling musical instruments (keyboards, drums, guitars, recording and DJ equipment) in some of our stores as well as on our website to provide our customers with a more comprehensive product selection. I can understand why you would wonder about adding these to our product mix – how does this fit in with what we’re about? I see it as just another extension of offering products to help our customers enjoy life. With most of our products—televisions, DVDs, music CDs—you are a passive component in the entertainment experience. By picking up a musical instrument, you can be the star. As a former musician (okay, as former high school band geek), I am excited that Best BuyTM has started selling musical instruments. Maybe I’ll pick something up and get back into the old groove.
Sincerely,
Gina, Community Connection Manager

Look at best buy now. I would encourage people to check out their cell phone department. It has changed the way people buy cell phones. Best Buy rolled out a new segment called Best Buy Mobile, and the numbers are through the roof. All carriers, and almost every phone. Before this initiative, not too many people would have bought cell phones from Best Buy. If you look at their musical instruments now, it might be a shock that they even are there. If the initiative is taken, and the "store within a store" is done properly for musical instruments, it will change the way people shop for instruments just the way has and will continue to do with cell phones.
