I agree with timjph: RescueTime on Mac should use the system network settings. As far as I can see that's not what RescueTime does.

I have the same problem. The solution you suggest seems crude though. My system settings actually have the proxy data in there and when I switch location or the network connection I use (Ethernet at the office, Wireless at home), MacOS automatically switches from using the proxy to not using it. RescueTime should just use this system information.

I would wish data collector automatically detect if proxy is reachable and if not - the data could be sent directly, without using proxy.

I use RescueTime on my notebook - both at home and work. In corporate network I have to use proxy, of course at home not.

RescueTime data collector should automatically detect lack of proxy or at least try to send updates using proxy and directly (without proxy), if proxy was not found. That would save me a switching proxy on and off when I'm at work / home.

Depending on your resources, it'd be easy to grab the data in XML format-- all of the graphs in RescueTime are XML powered.
