I did see a few reports of people discussing having trouble with that and similar VDSL modems. Since I don't know German I'm not sure if I can figure out what options you may have to make the modem more robust.

Make sure Wuala didn't magically change ports in options.

Do you know if the gateway modem (your vdsl modem) is running linux? Can you telnet to it?

Wuala, being P2P, uses many UDP connections. This can stress certain consumer grade routers and modems. I had to hack some settings on my DSL modem to make it more stable.

Try taking any routers out of the loop to see if it is the modem.

Uncheck run as administrator. Wuala doesn't need privileges.

Hmm, thats odd. Wuala should not result in a UAC prompt. (Windows Vista and higher will not start applications at startup that need a UAC Prompt).

Make sure on the compatibility tab that nothing is checked, especially "Run this program as administrator".

In the start menu, it should add a shortcut under the Startup folder.
Is the shortcut there? If it is, does it open Wuala? Does it open a window or put an icon in the tray?

If it isn't there, please also check this folder for me.
C:\Users\[Your Windows Username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

I'm sorry if that sounded like a "Works for me" blow off. If I've learned anything from volunteering here, it's that systems that seem identical can work very differently.

I meant it as a "I have one of those too (7 is still pretty rare).", hopefully we can get to the bottom of this.

So I'll be investigating why Start Wuala when I start my computer doesn't work.
Did you not select it when you installed Wuala? I wonder if it works during install but not in options. – Deathbob, on October 20, 2009 16:37

I'm not following what "2 out of 3 startup options (start Wuala; restart) do not work" means. Could you be more specific?

I do have a Windows 7 RTM x86 machine and everything but FSI (we're working on it) works.

Pinning is not possible at this time.
I am unsure if/when this will be possible as this would require some modifications to the launcher executable.

OK, so at least FSI is running.

But you don't see a W:\ Drive in My Computer



Strange. As a workaround you can map it manually.



They are working on some changes to FSI, hopefully in the coming month or two, that (fingers crossed) should work out a lot of problems.

Does it work if you enter the part in ( ) from the status window into the start menu and press enter?
