Deborah asked a question in twitterfeed on October 20, 2009 16:22:
We can't seem to shut down RSS feeds in Twitterfeed, even though we previously deleted themDear Twitterfeed:
We decided to discontinue using RSS feeds in our Twitter account (http://twitter.com/ippnw) using Twitterfeed, but even though we deleted them, items from that source are still showing up in the Twitter stream. Can you help us?
Many thanks from Deborah, on behalf of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War
Deborah reported a problem in HootSuite on April 14, 2009 21:20:
Missing tweetsMost of my outgoing tweets from April 11th and 12th seem to have disappeared from the message base. I sent them through Hootsuite, but it's entirely possible that the problem is with Twitter itself. Can you look into this, and restore the messages, if possible? Many thanks!
Deborah asked a question in Ning on April 06, 2009 18:53:
Are the allegations against Ning justifiable?I've read an article about Ning.com that calls into question the company's strategies for making use of members' personal data: http://www.chartingstocks.net/2009/03... Before I hit the panic button, I'm interested in knowing 1) if the Ning leadership has a response, and 2) if Ning network creators are finding that the personal information of their network members is being abused, and 3) if there is any substance to claims that Ning is a pyramid scam. My own experience with Ning has been very positive thus far. I'm looking for a balanced perspective on these allegations.

Dear Sir or Madam,
Fortunately, I do not come from a culture that requires me to treat the implication that I am lying as a killing insult.
In fact, I am candidly reporting actual exchanges with Asus customer support and actual problems with my Eee PC.
In general, I am very pleased with my Asus Eee PC 900, and happy to speak in support of FLOSS.
However, I am am not at all pleased with your tone in addressing me, and request that you refrain from responding to my posts, if you cannot avoid expressing your contempt for me. I hope that you can savor the experience of pitying a stranger's ignorance and despising her in private, without adding hurtful words to a public form.
Sincerely yours,

Dear Thor,
Thank you ever so much for your response, which was both helpful and swift!
I will certainly reconsider whether Get Satisfaction is a good place for me to bring my questions.
Sincerely yours,

A comment on the problem "I love my Asus Eee PC 900 with a Linux operating system, but there are three problems I haven't been able to resolve" in ASUS:
This was my first post to Get Satisfaction, and I now see that this is the wrong web site for me. I am too much of wimp to benefit from responses of this kind. I am a delicate flower, I guess, and it hurts my feelings to have a stranger respond in these terms. However, I do recognize that he or she is trying to be helpful, and I do think the concept of Get Satisfaction is wonderful. Nevertheless, I will not be back. – Deborah, on February 22, 2009 19:44

I'm not tough enough to take friendly fire at Get Satisfaction. Thanks, anyway!I posted a question this morning to Get Satisfaction. Reading the first response, I see that the responder wished to offer solutions, but did so in language that I do not consider to be civil discourse. Keeping in mind your dictum, "Those boots were made for walking," I won't be back to Get Satisfaction, since I am obviously not the demographic you are trying to serve. However, I thought I'd let you know why I wouldn't be back. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to try out Get Satisfaction! It's a great concept. It's unfortunate that I'm not tough enough to take the friendly fire here.

I love my Asus Eee PC 900 with a Linux operating system, but there are three problems I haven't been able to resolveHere are the problems:
1) According to Asus customer service, I can't install any new applications on this laptop. Of course, if I were a Linux programmer, I'd be able to do it anyway, but I'm not.
2) The Asus laptop does not have a port for a phone cable, so I can't go online using a dial-up service. If there were a USB modem that was compatible with the Asus Linux laptop, I'd be able to do it, but according to Asus customer service, there isn't.
3) What I really want to install is a driver for my Sierra 881 USB connector, so that I can use my Asus laptop to go online with the AT&T mobile broadband service to which I subscribe. (Of course, if I were a Linux programmer, I'd be able to do it. See above.) Thus, my only connectivity choices are ethernet and wifi, and I therefore have to count on the kindness and compatibility of other people's networks when I'm away from my home base.
