Dell-Bill_B replied on January 05, 2009 14:43 to the question "BILL_B - DID YOU GET MY INFO???" in Dell:
hey_jchuck,
Sorry for the delays. I have been out of office for a combination of holidays and paternity leave. I apologize for getting you caught in the middle of all that. I got the adapter dispatched this morning, and it should arrive tomorrow with a return airbill for sending back the old one. The part description for the power cord was a little vague, so I am hoping I got the right one. If it's the incorrect type, I will be on point to reply immediately if you post back here. Thanks for your patience.

HI, Craig.
I dont see the email, but I've been out on holidays and paternity leave for a long time, so it could be buried in my inbox or have suffered a mass delete. That number is too large to be a service tag, and I tried it as an express service code. It doesn't come back associated to anything. Could you possibly find the service tag on a white sticker somewhere on the bottom of the system and double check it for me, please?
A comment on the question "M1330 Power Problem" in Dell:
Hi, Richard.
You can get a pdf download or html web page link to the service manual in English at the link below. The 1330 mobo is do-able, but definitely not a walk in the park, so just keep close tabs on your screws and parts. Take your time and concentrate on the disassembly, taking mental notes on where everything goes. Happy hunting.

Sorry to hear about the frustration. One alternative I know of to buying batteries directly from Dell is Cheap Laptop Batteries.com. Hope it works out for you and good luck with the wedding.

If you are under warranty tech support via chat, email or phone should be able to help. I am trying to concentrate on helping those who run into problems with tech support. If they refuse you service, or you are not happy with their service, please comment back, and I will set up the service for you. Thanks for your patience. – Dell-Bill_B, on November 03, 2008 21:59

Sorry, but I can't dispatch outside of the US and Canada. Your warranty expired back in March, so I doubt Dell EMEA will do a warranty excpetion. Your best bet is to buy an ac adapter from Dell Spare Parts in Ireland, or from another supplier of Dell adapters online. You can probably beat Dell's price, but with Dell you get an abbreviated warranty through us instead of whatever the vendor offers. – Dell-Bill_B, on November 03, 2008 20:45

Hmm. OK. I pulled your yahoo email address from your service tag records on a previous contact. I will email you. Please reply to that with your current shipping address at your earliest convenience. – Dell-Bill_B, on November 03, 2008 20:23
Dell-Bill_B replied on November 03, 2008 19:52 to the question "Dell Power Management on the fritz." in Dell:
It sounds like your ac adapter's ID chip is not communicating with the internal charger board. This can be due to a bent or missing data pin inside the barrel connecter on the end of the adapter. It could be the chip has just failed. Or it could be the charger board is bad, requiring a motherboard replacement. The first thing to do is try to find a known good Dell 65 or 90 watt adapter, and see what happens.

The only resolution is an out of warranty exception dispatch, which would depend pretty much on how long ago your warranty expired. Or you could find a new ac adapter pretty cheap out on the web or from Dell Spare Parts. – Dell-Bill_B, on October 31, 2008 20:41

Your warranty is expired, but I will request a warranty exception for you. Is your shipping address still the one that starts with 937-5 West XXXXXXXX? – Dell-Bill_B, on October 31, 2008 20:40

I don't really understand what you are saying about "to open 10 times or more the machines." I apologize. If your system needs repair for a faulty GPU, let me know, and I will get your case forwarded to the appropriate group within Dell to handle it. – Dell-Bill_B, on October 31, 2008 13:42

Not true. We enhanced the warranty for issues specific to the Nvidia GPU on several systems. http://direct2dell.com/one2one/archiv...
