I agree crudsy. I don't think crudsy has ever cheated. I think there can be some great fun on the getsatisfaction threads. I think it is regrettable that people are so jealous by anothers gains that they simply quit, but hey whatever floats your boat. I think Hubdub should delete thier account so this disgruntled user can't screw up stuff on the way out.

It seems that what is making users happy is returning the page to what it normally looked like. It seems that even though this is in beta phase, rolling out changes this drastic would have been discussed before being rolled out. Why not ask the users what changes we want and DONT want.
I still dont like the predictions of others appearing on the main page. Wish that the graph was larger. I wish the sidebar was smaller and filled with information on the user who wrote question and other questions that might relate to this. I would love to have a way to bookmark a question. And maybe it is just me but why would I want to challenge others to compete on a certain question? It is not like there is a way to track who does better, so basically I am just telling others to wager on a market. I would rather see a way of rating a question.

There seems to be about 20 people who frequent these getsatisfaction threads, and they are for the most part some of the most active users on Hubdub. It would seem that if you were testing a new look these people would be asked for feedback. The one thing we aren't shy with is input.
On the front end side I have asked for as have others, a more functional home page, the ability to select what you want to appear on there. As far as the new page, I am now forced to select the graph tab if i want to see movement, which before was very easy to see. The new page seems to take longer to load than old page. The old page conveyed all the information that was relevant. It seems that most of the effort is to make site more social, instead of more functional. There are buttons everywhere to share questions, notify people, see what people wagered, but as far as it working better, I don't see any improvements.
I think a first impression is important, we are talking about layout, how does it feel, I know it doesn't work as easily, I have to make extra click to see a graph, and starting odds. If we are going to be redesigning things how about adding some extra buttons, like a button to wager 500 or 1000 on question. Instead of seeing what others predicted on the main page (hide that info in the prediction tab), why not put the wagering selections there. So I don't have to go to another screen for it.

PLEASE HELP... I can't stand this new layout on the question screen. What a bunch of garbled mess. I thought you all were working on ways to make hubdub more useful instead of these silly and in this case useless look of the new question screen.
Sometimes you should go by the old saying, if it aint broken dont fix.
I like the old screen and want it returned. Talk about having information that means nothing. I don't care who predicted what. I want the old screen.
Maybe in future you all would ask for suggestions. I know on the last thread of things users wanted to see, no one asked for this new look. Can we please spend time working on ways to make hubdub work better instead of look different. How about spending those same hours you spent ruining the new screen, trying to find a way to implement a power user feature. Or any of the other list of demands real users had.
One last thing, why is Nigel now using the pundit screen name? It isn't listed as an admin user.

I too get frustrated with the lottery or pure poker type of questions. I think it brings an element of sillyness to a site in which news prediction should be the number one priority. In that regard I have been opposed to questions about Hubdub that aren't news. Whether Hubdub players will reach certain levels or how many will, that is not reported by a mainstream news source. It is amazing that back in what we are referring to as the "good ole wild west" days of hubdub, there were more news questions, less lottery and fantasy questions, and more fun.

I agree with infernal machine as to the validity of the dow questions in which they ask what will be a certain digit. That is truly news. It requires some thought and analysis, and also makes for an exciting market as it draws near.
This site has been in beta for more than 3 months, we need a clear definition of what direction the site wants to take. And then we can all work towards helping it get there.
I am to the point where I don't know what questions are going to be allowed or not, so why bother flagging. It feels like a waste of time, unless we had a clear mission statement. So that is what I would like to see. I would like to know what the admins want this site to be in another 90 days and where they see it in a year. What types of questions, how do they feel markets should be decided, we saw the indecision around the last quarter changeover, so lets start looking forward. I know there are no shortages of poeple on this site that would love to come up with creative ideas for making this site better.

It seems that we are resettling everything nowdays. I think I should start taking positions with no probability of winning, and then arguing or at least make a silly argument and then we will settle so everyone wins.
I am opposed to resettling questions so everyone wins. If a question needs resettled then those who gained from the original incorrect settlement should not be rewarded for having a losing position. I think we are trying to make everyone happy and in the end it is making everyone more apathetic to the process. The current default thinking is oh well wager what you want, you can always get your bet cancelled or having the question settled numerous times so you win. It is no wonder sports questions are dominating this site, they offer clear settlements.
It feels to me that this whole mess got started back with the spitzer question and since then we have been hesitant to do anything without a big long drawn out discussion, and then nothing happens unless every possibility is covered. Why have category editors or admins who are suppose to remain unbias, if we aren't going to let them do thier jobs. They make a decision and that should be it. Lets hold them accountable for thier mistakes, if a category editor is making numerous mistakes settling markets, maybe they shouldn't be settling markets. I would rather go by the theory of you can't please everyone all the time, rather than this lets all be winners philosophy that seems to be taking over on hubdub.

This problem can be solved by requiring the question be settled at a particular time, this should be a time in which the admin or category editor have agreed is possible for them to monitor this question. I have suggested in other threads that we assign admins to watch the website at particular times. If an admin was in charge of the site for a set period then they would be able to capture the question at the appropriate time. Having the question suspend at the time will stop any wagering after results are known, and then when a question suspends should be flagged to admin to determine if action is needed.

I hope we see in the near future the ability to create questions for markets that are repeating, like the dow or movies, with little ease and maybe we could introduce a way in which a question wouldn't go live til a certain point so the odds could be set if needed. I know I have asked for all new questions to be in a state of pending until reviewed, and then once reviewed made immediately live with no restrictions. But how helpful would it be to have all the NFL game questions written, and be able to fix the odds as the weeks approach. That way we could help with duplicate markets as well.
Just my 2cents. What do others think.
