Well we try to entertain. Seriously I would have thought the debate about the switzer incident would have made news somewhere in the world. – Destry, on April 12, 2008 05:08

So did people see that the Patrick Swayze dying question was settled 4 days early. The question reads will he die before april 15, but question was settled today as a NO. I agree there was news story saying he was doing well, but that doesn't mean anything. So now if he does die, you will resettle the correct way, but everyone will get ot keep thier winnings, even those who were on wrong side of question.
I don't like this at all. Life and death is not 99.9 percent of anything. I think this question should be used as an example of what not to do. And it was settled by Nigel, didn't he just tell us he didn't settle questions anymore.

Destry replied on April 12, 2008 00:48 to the discussion "(Almost) duplicate markets" in Hubdub:
I think some of this duplicate question stuff can be solved if we were to implement automated questions on topics that are repeating or known in advance. I also think we will be able to stop alot of this from occuring if we didn't allow quesitons to go live until they were reviewed. I think we need to institute the protection immediately and since we don't have power users, leave it up to category editors and admins to review new questions. Once a question is reviewed and found to be clear then it can be opened to immediate no restriction wagering by everyone involved. I believe that in the future we should allow certain question creators to have thier questions go live immediately, that have shown a history of writing questions in which there were no problems.
I think we need to identify that as this site gets more popular there will be more types and varities of questions. I think and have said on other threads that with any event there will potential for creating many types of questions, and some of which are fun. With the Super Bowl there were over 200 hundred different "prop" bets available to wager on in vegas. I like having variety, maybe they will interest others that don't know as much about sports to wager on some more of the fun stuff. What color will the shirt Tiger wears on Saturday, will anyone score a hole in one, These could be fun to even non golf fans. I think we should be on the lookout for multiple who will win questions. And multiple will the dow close up or down, or open up or down. But having a bunch of questions about topics is good for this site. And how is no one started the market asking about Nigel and his predicting skills.
I think we should be doing more to make sure questions are in the right categories, and that those questions have fair odds, with easy to settle markets. Making hubdub work better and everything else will follow suit. Make it easier to personalize the home page and what questions we see.
Destry replied on April 11, 2008 01:23 to the question "Any objections to me making predictions?" in Hubdub:
I think all admins should be allowed to wager on questions. I think they should have thier wagers on markets they might settle made public. I am sure if any of them were to settle a market based on thier own predictions there would be an uproar. Maybe if a admin wagers on a market they should place it in the comment field. That might help bring transparency to the site.

Destry replied on April 09, 2008 06:44 to the problem "Delays between settlement requests and actual settlement" in Hubdub:
I have addressed this concern with the admins and have suggested that power user be given ability to suspend (NOT SETTLE) a market so it may be reviewed. I feel that by giving power users the ability to suspend a market this will help, I also feel that a user who creates a question should have the ability to suspend that question. In the case a mistake is made, or market needs settled, this would be something they knew about since they wrote the question. I have also asked for admins to be given particular times of the day they are responsible for hubdub. In someway making sure the Hubdub was covered 24/7.

Destry shared an idea in Hubdub on April 09, 2008 02:05:
NEW and IMPROVEDWe have all seen over the last few days how much the admins listen to the people who speak up and let thier voices be heard. So now lets do it to agin, and give them our ideas for improvements we want to see.
So feel free to share your ideas. And lets hope the admins can give us some feedback on the probability of them actually happening. Also what might be coming along.
Destry replied on April 09, 2008 00:09 to the problem "I am on STRIKE" in Hubdub:
Well it brings me great joy that I AM NO LONGER ON STRIKE. I didn't go on strike without great thought and consideration. I wouldn't recommend it to other users. I feel that everyone involved as learned from this incident and hopefully conclusions can be reached before such action is needed. I look forward to an open dialouge with admins on future issues. To the other users who thought this action was taken to bully or blackmail, I can assure you it wasn't.
Destry replied on April 09, 2008 00:03 to the question "Result of the vote" in Hubdub:
Well anaverageamerican it looks like the 13 times I did vote were counted accurately. (Now the question is can you tell that I am teasing).
I am glad that the results were published. I am not shocked by the results. I would wager a guess that if exit polling was released we would see that the 13 votes were by users who were very active in the site, the 7 votes for option 2 were done by users who had less experience being exposed to this user, and the votes for option 3 would be a sampling of all users.
I look forward to the site moving forward. I look forward to new improvements to the website that help the functionality of the game as much as the look of the game.

Shouldn't we have early exit polling results. Can we get a breakdown by race, gender, wealth, college education, and so forth. The news networks would have already been giving us predictions, I feel out of touch, no gallup polling data, no early exit polls, what are procedures for recounts, who do I sue to get the results reviewed, is that guy from the florida 2000 elections available to judge voter intent, what is voter turnout, are the results splitting down party lines, there is just so much unknown. What did people do back in the day before instant results.

Steph I agree that removing a persons ability to create questions reduces gaming. I hope there are other solutions that are in the pipelines at hubdub that can stop gaming as well. Imagine if all questions were in suspend mode until reviewed by category admin that would stop alot of gaming as well. Imagine if those questions were then immediately able to be played by everyone even quesiton creator after reviewed.
I think many of us have been pushed to the point of no return by this particular user. I believe two results will occur if option 3 occurs is the winning option, one satayki will chose not to play, option 2 will be he simply games the system with a renewed energy to move up all the leaderboards and prove he wasn't gaming by continuing to game.

The strike was never meant to be humerous. It was a serious situation in which through are stance was sending a message to the admins. I care enough to not copy and paste the same message on several posts. I reply to each individually. If you is getting on your nerves, than quit following it on your dashboard, and then it won't bother you anymore.

Thanks for your input. I have asked for them to make a decision all along. We were told that a decision would be reached today. Now we are told there is a vote in which we will know the results tomorrow. We have proposed rules in which the user would be banned under them. We have admin admitting errors. That is why we are where we are. What we have occuring now is the admins obviously don't want to ban satayki for whatever reason, and now are going to use the results of a blind vote to justify thier position.
Wasn't you that started the Golden Rules for hubdub players, in which many of use top users who are now on strike spent countless hours reading and offering suggestions, for you to end the thread by saying not to listen to any of the opinions anyway. If you look back at that threat interestingly enough I pointed out Satayki cheating then too, but you said it wasn't important to discuss.
I am asking that if the admins want the users to provide an opinion then give the users all te information so they can vote having all the information.

I am asking everyone who supports the strike NOT to vote in this sham process. There is no transparency in this process. The admins can now take whatever action and claim the community chose to do it. There is no attempt to give the entire detailed history of his gaming, so therefore users wouldn't have a fair representation of the gaming.
PLEASE DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THIS VOTE!!!!!!

DO NOT participate in this sham voting. There is no transparency. The admins can now choose to do whatever they want and claim the community chose it. The details of his gaming will not be laid out in depth like they should be. I am asking everyone to NOT vote in this upcoming sham process.
