Shawn, thanks for the comments. I had tried that originally, but maybe hadn't done it correctly since I was a newbie and it didn't work right. I just did a sample test and it worked fine. I'll do that for now, but hope they still work on an automated method so that when meetings happen that I was not informed about it will record automatically. Thanks, for the help.

Automatic Recording - Wouldn't that be great! What do people think about having the capabilitiy to automatically begin recording from a specific input the second the input sees video, and stop recording the second it doesn't see video? Our town meetings are in another building and it is all automated so that they can hit a few buttons and go out live over our government channel. However, with the SX2 it will not begin recording unless I hit the start button in the Force Matric screen. And then I have to be around to hit the stop recording button when the meeting is done. Doesn't always happens, and even in some cases I've recorded 25 hours for a 3 hour meeting. Not good. The old system I had, Briggs Media System, use to do that for me and it was great. Even withouth this feature Tightrope is still more superior in other things. But, I need my automatic recording feature. Right now I have TIVO hooked up recording 5 hours of every meeting night, then I have to use VideoRedo to edit the five hours and to encode it to mpg2. Too much work.

Carousel Videohelper Error MessageI receive an error message over my bulletins while Carousel is running except when a video bulletin is playing. It reads as follows "Carousel Videohelper has encounted a problem and needs to close."
When I click on more details I get the following:
videohelper.exe Appver 1.0.0.1 Modname:quartz.dll
Modver: 6.5.2600.3367 offset: 00031055d
It goes away if I go to the Carousel screen and click on "x" to close the error box. Than it will return later.

One Carousel for 2 Channels - Can I decide not to send a bulletin to one of the channelsI have one Carousel unit serving two channels. Is there a way to create a political bulletin, but not have it go to the second channel?

Sorry, Pete I didn't get back to you sooner. I did download it again and it plays just fine now.
However, I have loaded other videos from SpeedEdit and they either don't work, or worked initial and then don't playback anymore. Can you give me the best settings for me to use when rendering a file for Carousel? I will render it as a windows media file, but need to know the best specifications to use.
Thanks,
Dick

video playback in bulletin slide not fully playing outInserted video block in a bulletin template and the video begins playing, but cuts off after 18 seconds. The video psa is 90 seconds. I changed the criteria so that the system doesn't determine the length to play the slide and typed in 90 seconds. It still cuts off after 18 seconds or so. Other videos that are 30 seconds or less play just fine.

Random playing of Audio background playlist? Can the audio playlist be setup to play randomly. I took a lot of time to create a playlist on my office computer that had 108 audio files in a random list so that the same group didn't play all their songs one after another. When I went to add the files one at a time (this needs to be updated also - we should have bulk uploading of audio music files) the browse list came up with all my files alphabetically. So, is there some way to have them play randomly anyways?

I too am very happy that this blog has been started and looking forward to spending many (maybe too many) hours looking through it to see if there are ways I can improve my operational use of Cablecast and Carousel. Of course I will throw out my ideas on what I need and feel you folks should jump at doing (since it was my idea and it must be good.) Thanks to all of you at TRMS for all of your help.
