digitaldoctor replied on May 20, 2009 21:01 to the idea "Two ideas for improving editing/viewing flow" in Dale Lane:
This quicker [View/Edit] toggling need has been a tough one !
My idea was highlight the text you wanted "the focus" to be on ....
For example:
(1) Edit to View
- As you finish up your edits ... highlight what you want "the focus" to be on when in View Mode.
- press control + e
- the View version appears, and then automatically uses some type of "Find" control + f to find the first version of the text you selected. (it would be up to the user to select unique text to get the intended results.
Dale said that bLADE wiki had no way of knowing what text is highlighted ...
One workaround might be if bLADE wiki automatically copied the hightlighted text everytime you clicked [edit/view] or pressed control+e. Therefore when the [View] version appears, if text was highlighted, the focus could move to that text.
I bet some AutoHotKey scripts could do this for those that really need this feature.
(2) View to Edit
Essentially the same process.
Note: one weird thing about highlighting in [Edit] mode ... is when you go back to view .. and then go back to [Edit] ... your text is still highlighted !

New UI (WM 6.5) coming at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona next month.New UI (WM 6.5) coming at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona next month.
Microsoft is also expected to unveil Windows Mobile 6.5 at the MWC. Neowin revealed in November that 6.5 was being tested by device partners and would be unveiled in 2009 Q1. Little details are available on the 6.5 upgrade but we can confirm that those leaked 6.5 screenshots are genuine concept shots for the honeycomb web start menu.
I think that useless YouTube HoneyComb Menu Item should be replaced with bLADE wiki !

Mad Fast adding file links via ESP's control + p
This is a mouseless process as well.
However, it doesn't work !
Cause: control + l assumes you are adding a wiki link.
Workarounds:
#1)
press control + l
tab 4 times to the [File] button
enter
control + v
enter
#2) using the mouse to click [File] ... this really slows you down though (keyboard, mouse, keyboard) transitions kill speed.
Proposals:
#1) adding file links get's it's own shortcut keystroke. (Note control + f is taken)
#2) probable filenames could be parsed and bLADEwiki automatically adds the file:/// at the beginning of the link to make it a valid file link.
Q: How would blade wiki know it is a filename ?
A: presence of blackslashes \ or presence of colon or a period in the string.
Just another reason why ESP and bLADEwiki are so great ! especially together.
Essentially this would allow me to add any one of my 50,000 documents on the network in very little time.

That warms my heart to hear you are thinking of a better HOME for bLADEWiki.
I think the drop in users is due to GS, not inactivity on your part.
This site certainly isn't to discuss complex software ideas.
I am currently looking at getting my own site going so while researching I'll keep in mind your requirements. I am looking at how expensive it is to rent my own server for a few sites .... or one of the "share with 3 people" setups. Maybe I can host a bLADEwiki site for free on a hosting solution that I find.
The site I am trying to get off the ground will be about computers and medicine. And I really look forward to showcasing to other doctors how I use bLADEwiki to organize my medical information ! (and my life!)
I want it to be like a LifeHacker for Doctor's offices. Sort of. I hope to attract some CodeMonkeys and doctors all in one place.
Forums, Wiki, Articles, Blog, single sign on (portal).
I've been researching good solutions for a long time. I am looking at pulling the trigger for better or for worse ... SOON(ish).
I'd much prefer you look into website software that would maximize your time and help bLADEwiki that just look at zero cost solutions. Time is money anyway :) Especially for a talented coder like yourself.

What is your guess on the synch times ? (ie. make a change on your PC, how long does it take to populate all the devices ?)
Have you ever messed up -- edited a page on one PC (Left it on the [edit] screen) and then edited the same page on another device ?
Seems like Live Mesh is almost a portal ..
"Live Mesh News gives you a continuous feed detailing activities in your mesh. It lets you know when a file in a shared folder has been changed, when someone joins or leaves a folder you’re sharing, when messages are posted to folders, and more."

Just look at the GS features ...
http://getsatisfaction.com/dalelane/w...
GS is supposed to be a small part of a website where you embed GS on your site.
GS is a widget, not a site, not a home :(

what I meant was ..... this site has "a few" neat features but the overall clunkiness of this site has all but killed the discussion around the future of bLADE wiki - the greatest wiki of all time ! I really really love bLADE wiki and I don't think getsatisfaction.com is a "HOME" for bLADEwiki. I think the SUPER low number of posts here in 4 months tells something.-
