Digitalpardoe,
I'm sorry you were annoyed by the design of our system. We allow colons in the display name of companies in our system, but we decided to be more restrictive on the url for the company.
Looking at things, we should be able to allow colons in our url, we simply need to relax our validations. I'll talk it over with the team, and put some tests in place to make sure we don't break the site if you use a colon. This won't be a quick fix, because I'm not confident that all of our code will work with a name like that, so I need to do an audit to make sure it works. I would say expect this to be allowed in a week or two.
Thanks so much for the feedback,
Scott

Because calling Last.fm produces an incredible amount of calls (we have to ask them for every single friends' stream, unlike Twitter or Pownce which just gives us a full list of everything your friends are doing) we have had to disable updating for non-ST! friends. However, when we implement our next iteration, you'll start to see Last.fm updates for anyone that you're friends with (doesn't really matter where). Make sense?-

Hey guys, sorry for the confusion. Check out our recent blog post here: http://blog.socialthing.com/2008/03/1...
We are experiencing a large growth in traffic, and the way we were grabbing data for some of the services was not scaling well. We hope to add these services back in soon (and work on a way to make it more clear to the user what is happening).-
