Boosh,
You are a badass! Anyway, this seems to have solved the problem. HOWEVER, I just did what you asked and got right onto the net to test a few web pages, random google searches and page selections...i didnt load my media into the library, install all the add-ons that i usually use, etc.
Explain your thinking to me and why this worked...and will it still work after I install all the stuff i normally have installed?
Thanks!

I do, but I experience these slowdown issues even when these services arent being used. And plus, I've got Comcast 5 megs down service....Things should be fine. I've had previous versions of songbird where it ran great, this is a new issue to me in 1.0.
thanks again, keep the ideas comming...I'd hate to say I've been kicking the idea around to switch browsers.
Peace,
P

DJ Perception reported a problem in Songbird on February 23, 2009 19:39:
Songbird seems to be loading web pages....very.....very....slowly....On my OSX machine, when I load songbird it takes for-ev-ar (Sandlot style) to load...i mean it takes a long time, probably up to 30 seconds.
Not only that, when I load webpages, via a link, the addy bar, or anything, web pages are slow to appear and load. Especially when I click links, dropdown boxes, text fields, and other things inside of a web page...it just takes forever to respond. A dropdown for example can take several seconds to drop after a click.
I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem? I have a good strong machine, i dont know what could be causing the problem.
Meanwhile, if I use another browser (firefox, safari, etc) everything reacts properly.
input would be appreciated, and thanks for all the hardwork, songbird team.
Peace,
P

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
F*&king awesome! Anyway, to anyone having this problem, the solution was easy. if you type "about:plugins" into the browser as I was instructed to do, you will see a link at the top offering help with plugins. Follow that link, download the Java Embedding Plugin, and stick it in your library->internet plug-ins folder.
BAM! works like a charm.
There are a lot of plugins there, and could possibly solve other problems that people might have...I suggest installing or at least reading into some of these plugins.
Peace and thanks to the Songbird team...keep up the good work. I'm excited to see v1.0!

No "Print" Option under the file menu.I might be crazy, but I can't seem to locate a "print" feature...anywhere! Am I just stupid and missing it somewhere?
The normal location would be File > Print....right? I swear, no such thing exists on my Songbird.
Also, after looking in all the other menu bar options...I still fail to locate a print function.
Help me out here...haha I CANT be that stupid, can I?
Thanks guys,

thanks a lot for getting back to me about this ashughes...your effort and help in fixing this situation has been much appreciated.
Unfortunately, Im an OSX n00b, and I don't know jack about terminal, etc.
I guess I'm going to have to wait on Songbird until this problem is fixed in a later release, but thankfully, this post has come up and now it's something that the Songbird team can look into. I'm going to take a crack at the terminal stuff anyway (never know until you try, right?) but I'm not expecting the results to be very good.
Hopefully it can all be worked out in a future version.
thanks again

@ashughes - I checked where you asked, and no, java is not listed, but in my songbird options, i have java and javascript checked...do i need to install something else? OS X says it has java pre-installed and doesnt even offer an installer on their website.
@alucard - I'm trying to find out wtf is up with songbird's java plugin, or lack there of, thanks for the observation...i hope we can all get this figured out.

No, its so weird...every other browser i've ever used works fine, including firefox and the secondary browser ive been using, Shiira...that's why this problem is so perplexing...especially since songbird is built off of firefox – DJ Perception, on August 29, 2008 19:18

Songbird Browser won't load my email.I don't know why, but for some reason I always get a java error when i try to load my email at "Cyber-rights.net"
this is a really good established email that I don't want to get rid of, and I hate having 2 browsers on my machine just so I can check my email.
I don't get java errors on any other page that i visit except for cyber-rights.net...i dont understand it.
It just gives me the standard error that the website gives me when my java really IS turned off..."javascript, which is required to view this page, seems to be turned off, please turn on javascript" and this is with "no script" turned off, peer guardian turned off, and javascript enabled in songbird.
I dunno what the quark is here, but I'd appreciate it if the songbird team could look into it...if there's some kind of weird anomaly with this page, there could be more pages out there that act the same way towards songbird.
I'm running 0.7 on OS X.
Thanks guys, keep up the good work,

Ok, now im workin on a fresh OS X install and everything seems to have been remedied! I also installed "forklift" right off the bat, so from now on when i delete a progrm it will be GONE, without any pesky traces left behind.
Thank you again for the quick help...keep working to make Songbird the best solution out there!

Yo Boris,
I deleted the files in question, but I don't know jack about Terminal (OSX n00b) so I just navigated the folders and deleted all entries pertaining to songbird...I also ran the commands (copy & paste) in Terminal just incase.
Anyway I'm going to reinstall and let you know how it goes.
Thanks again...keep up the good work.

Serious hang ups + failure to play files = Unusable Songbird v0.7I just went from 0.6.1 to the new 0.7 Beta..and let me tell you. I don't know what happened, but something went horribly horribly wrong.
Here's a short list of the major problems:
1. My songs wont play....either in the library or on a playlist, I click them, the little speaker icon flashes on the screen next to the track name for a split second, and then nothing...silence.
2. I'm...getting...constant....hangups. I mean constant, I cant even scroll through my library without having some kind of serious serious hangup that I have to wait for and wait for until it releases its death grip on my system.
3. Not all of my files are importing into the library. I check my folder....1345 files....I import that folder into Songbird....1307 files.....????
Seriously guys, songbird is such a great idea and it has the potential to be the end all of media players, but it just seems like its not ready for prime time yet....let me know if anyone else is experiencing these problems.
BTW I'm running OS X 10.5.4 on an Intel E8400 Wolfdale with 4 GB of 800 mhz RAM.
