I subscribe to a topic for the company SoundCloud and when somebody posts, i get literally 50 emails regarding the same post. the topic is: "New limits and DJ mixes" in SoundCloud:
i'm not talking about for new posts... i keep getting notifications on one or two posts.

dj merritt replied on November 23, 2009 23:50 to the question "Tweetie 2 update GPS location" in atebits:
again... we're talking about just updating the Location inside the user profile of twitter and NOT geotagging each tweet or some future services twitter may add.
Tweetie 1 apparently did it... and not on this version.
it's an app issue. all the other apps have this function. again...
try Echofon. the free version has this feature.
it's really sad that we can search tweets nearby, and yet our location can't be changed.
to me, this is a major feature that's totally lacking.

who cares about 'per tweet'
echofon FREE version even has the update location deal. it throws up the GPS coordinates for your location... pretty dope and it's really odd that this app doesn't do that.
there is a workaround...
buy Voila! (iphone app) & signup with Yahoo's FireEage location service...
add eagle tweet inside FireEagle and when you only want to change your location, just hit the Voila app and it will update your city/town...
i can't seem to get it to work with actual GPS locations tho...
it would be nice for Tweetie to actually do all the cool stuff it should. I just don't get the nice map searching feature that our tweets aren't even a part of!
since there hasn't been any update or anything, it looks like i'll be switching over to Echofon Pro.. it does everything.

@Bas - i understand what you're saying, but even Apple does hosting by gigsize and they are pretty elegant.
if soundcloud doesn't want dj's using their service, that's fine and their prerogative... but this was marketed as something for all music (dj's/producers/etc) with a nice core online community for sharing the music.
if they don't want dj's or podcasters or whatever, then maybe they should come clean and say so... that this is really a service for producers and record labels.
IMO: that's very limiting and yes... it wouldn't be hard for somebody to create a new widget that's postable on forums and facebook and create a new service.
maybe that's what needs to be done. – dj merritt, on November 18, 2009 21:05
