Hi Donna- I'm sorry for the typo. You cannot reuse the wiki name if you delete the wiki.

I assume she meant to write "you can't create a new wiki w the same name." I don't understand how to "remove the content and start over."

Truly that is exactly what I would have done. So instead, I do what?
Copy my content and save to a word doc
Delete my content
... and then what?

There's not a risk per se, as long as you don't go to "Settings" -> "Delete this wiki". I only warned you about that because a few users have deleted their wikis that way, thinking they could recreate the blank wikis by deleting the original. – Vu Nguyen, on June 17, 2008 20:10
