Yes, everyone stays with you when you change your Twitter name.

A comment on the update "We have a new header!" in Get Satisfaction:
Indeed! It is that human touch that makes Get Satisfaction the great service that it is. – Donovan, on March 25, 2009 22:32

Donovan replied on March 25, 2009 22:07 to the problem "Isn't @thefuckingpope a violation of the "terms of service"?" in Twitter:
There are a great many things that offend people in the world, and the smart ones deal with it by avoiding those things that they disagree with.
So, if you don't like reading TheFuckingPope's tweets, even though they have 2,039 currently following them, including myself, then why not choose to simply not read their updates?
Is this really so hard? If I was telling people things such as condoms helping to spread AIDS and that they are not part of a solution, I'd want people to be questioning my extremely dangerous comments and "wisdom" in this, as well as other things.
So why I can sympathize that reading the updates may be offensive to some, I would repeat that you don't have to read the comments. We are all going to find things we do not agree with on Twitter - it is absolutely no different than the Internet at large, right? Trying to silence another point of view held by many, not just TheFuckingPope (ie. his followers), is not a fair solution.
Donovan marked one of Mitchell McKenna's replies in Twitter as useful. Mitchell McKenna replied to the question "Filters for Twitter's Facebook App". Donovan and 2 other people think it's one of the best replies.

Donovan replied on November 27, 2008 04:29 to the question "how to find out if someone you know uses twitter?" in Twitter:
No. One option would be to add your Twitter URL to your signature line in your emails. Anyone using Twitter will notice it and add you if they want. Alternatively, send a single email out to those you want to communicate with and announce your Twitter name (more personal and less annoying for receivers). If they are your friends, I don't think they will mind the single email. Your email may actually spur them into getting their own account, since you now have one. :) Finally, third option is to get a Gmail account and enjoy the webmail benefits. Or at least give it a try, and you can import your old-school email contacts into it, and then check them via Twitter... To continue my Gmail promotion, I'll close by suggesting that once you try Gmail, there's no going back as it's so much more useful. :)
Donovan replied on November 27, 2008 04:16 to the question "Can Canadians switch to the American shortcode to send/receive?" in Twitter:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_code
While similar to telephone numbers, they are, at the technological level, unique to each operator, although providers generally have agreements to avoid overlaps.
As I understand it, the shortcodes are recieved by whomever your cellular provider is. Each provider has to provision a particular shortcode (hence $$$). If that's not done, the shortcode isn't going to go anywhere. You can use the International long number to post updates, but that does not support receiving, much like many of the overseas countries are not supported for that.
Donovan replied on November 27, 2008 03:53 to the idea "Twitter not sending outgoing SMS in Canada really sucks. What gives?" in Twitter:
The Twitter blog posting makes it very clear that it is a financial issue that has caused the stop of the service and that they will notify us when there is progress on a solution they are working on. More info @ http://status.twitter.com/post/617036...
Also here: http://blog.twitter.com/
To clarify the previous comment, this affects Canadians; not the US, and thus it's not an issue that affects all of North America.
Donovan replied on November 27, 2008 03:45 to the question "how do I reply to someone's tweet" in Twitter:
Respond back to the Twitter SMS number (the one that sent the tweet to you) with @friend - the exact same as how you do it with Twitter online...
ie. @quotacious This works great, thanks!

Donovan replied on October 17, 2008 21:05 to the question "No "Post It" On Upload Page" in TwitPic:
Same here. Recently it would be very slow, but would progress, now, the upload took mere seconds, but it hangs and will not progress to the next stage... button stays greyed out as "Upload".
Opening another browser window shows the picture was uploaded, but no description or Tweet (since I wasn't prompted for the message yet)... As Twitpic's website is extremely slow lately, I have to assume this is a capacity issue. :(

Donovan reported a problem in Songza on October 08, 2008 04:13:
Donovan shared an idea in Songza on October 08, 2008 03:42:
Add currently playing song to playlistIf you are listening to a song and start a new search in the meantime (you may have not yet decided if you are happy with the currently playing song), there is no obvious button to then add the currently playing song to your playlist. Right now, one has to search the song again, and look through/listen to the results again, since there's no way to know which particular song version you were listening to... a link for this could be added to the currently playing box and go alongside Buy Song, etcetera.
Edit: Okay, so I see if one thinks to click on the currently playing song title, this ability is hiding there... maybe it should be a bit more obvious?
Donovan replied on October 08, 2008 03:27 to the question "How to play entire song list?" in Songza:
It's probably due to the failure of most videos to start (bandwidth issues?)... I was going to say that mine also fails to go to the next song, but the video window is spinning around and around, so it IS trying to advance, it just can't get the video started... so yeah, you click on a song title and it tries again and thus it starts. Or you click again... and again. :)
