Hey Zara, I just noticed your question.. if my answer helps at all it took me four long long days.. until they contacted me to tell me my account had been reactivated. But I've read all the threads and it's taken some others a LOT longer.. persistance... read through the threads under facebook. Some good ideas..
A comment on the discussion "13 Reasons your Facebook account will be disabled" in Facebook:
Sorry Jon.. I have no Idea why they aren't emailing you back.... they certainly don't have a time that they state after they disable you. But yes, my account was just the same... like it never happened. Just keep on writing.. that's all i can tell you.. I called people, I wrote the Attorney General Ca, .. just be persistant.
AND BE COOL, let them know how much you like their site.

Hey IgorTT, Thanks for the info! I did post in Scobelizers Blog, but I definately will find these others and post there as well. It's a shame that Facebook hasn't recognized, or even admitted there is a problem. It's good that you've directed us to some people with some punch! I'm on it! – dontjumpthegun, on May 27, 2008 03:29

Hey Amy thanks but I have posted this in about 5 different areas.. I kinda wish this site would allow to bring up a user and view their posts. To be honest though I don't find anyone delves into all the posts.... or reads them.. I don't know how to encourage anyone to write these people.. I could start another topic.. but.. lol.. does facebook need anymore topics?
I've tried to attract the Attorney General CA to look at this site but I doubt they have time... – dontjumpthegun, on May 26, 2008 15:33

Hey Christian.. you're not alone.. read all the topics tagged under "account disabled"
There is no one here participating from facebook, so you're unfortunately going to have to send emails to every possible address you can find for facebook:
disabled@facebook.com
warning@facebook.com
info@facebook.com
appeals@facebook.com
and reply to the address you got the notice from should be.. something like info+******@facebook.com
all you can do is explain what you were doing.. but if you look to Thors posted message.. 13 ways you can get disabled from facebook.. you'll figure it out.
Good luck.. I've been sending letters to other governing bodies like the Attorney General CA, and if they receive enough complaints they will have to investigate and hopefully force them to produce a more specific Terms and Conditions, Code of Conduct.. and more importantly some sort of Customer service contact.. and.. guidlines that they have to follow for disabling an account.
I got accused of repeatedly being warned for my persistant misuse but was only warned.. then disabled 2 seconds later... I asked for proof. They could provide none. But.. I did get reactivated.. and sighed a big sigh of relief

Hey there, when I got my account back everything was intact. Be sure to write every address that facebook provides you with, appeals@facebook.com was the one who wrote me back. Good luck... I know it's really frustrating but you have to be really persistant with letters. And be sure to ask them why your account was ... was it disabled? did you receive any warnings?-

This is the latest. A standard letter from Attorney General CA. Sort of hopeful, but others have to write in with their issues. I stated I didn't want legal action at all but want to help force such companies as Facebook to develop clear and concise Policies, Procedures..
I think someone used the word... "transparancy"

So here's the latest.. not inspiring but if enough people do this then the Attorney General is required to investigate.

Thank you for bringing your consumer information to the attention
of Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. Often it is only through
letters from concerned and responsible citizens that our office becomes
aware of consumer problems.
Complaints are used to develop information about patterns of
business activity which might indicate the need for formal investigation or
law enforcement action by our office. Complaints often bring early
warning of what promises to be a pervasive scam. Once a pattern is
discovered, what originated as a private dispute between buyer and seller may
become a matter of broad public interest and thus warrant the Attorney
General's intervention under the state's consumer protection laws.
The Attorney General's staff also invites complaints of consumer
abuse, deceptive business practices and outright fraud in order to
pinpoint specific data for the purpose of sponsoring new laws or requesting
changes in the current law for the benefit and protection of the
general public.
You should be aware that California law does not allow us to
represent private individuals in personal civil matters. In cases of
statewide significance, we can bring legal action on behalf of the collective
legal interests of the people of this state when substantive evidence
is accumulated which indicates that a firm is systematically violating
California law.

Heyall,
Here's the latest.. standard letter of response but a little hopeful. Looked into Facebook and the Better Business Bureau and they do have over 30 complaints but apparantly most are resolved without the consumer being pleased.
I'm telling ya.. Facebook=Mafia
if enough people do this then the Attorney General is required to investigate.

Hey LT24, well, friends that I had added just prior to my disabling have added me today.. I'm not sure If I lost anyone, not yet. I'm still quite unclear about what features warrant expulsion.. every time I press a button on that site now i cringe..
It's not just searches, it's replying to mail, writing letters, posting, poking, adding friends... I know there has to be more but they wouldn't specify what features they watch.. but if ya ask me it's every key stroke.
All I know is that I got quite a few pissed off letters from my friends to my yahoo address asking why I deleted them. There was no notice that my profile was temporarily suspended or anything.
I'm crossing my fingers for you! – dontjumpthegun, on May 23, 2008 04:02

Hey SB, I've resorted to finding outside parties that require companies such as Facebook to provide better information to users, guidlines and procedures..
Attorney General NY (this guy forced them to hire and Independant Safety and Security advisor), Attorney General CA (their head office is in Palo Alto) and my latest.. Better Business Bureau. (Facebook has 30 something complaints against them .... (not sure if they are gonna do anything either.. )
Facebook is kinda becoming a little mafia -ish.. – dontjumpthegun, on May 22, 2008 16:23

Hi there, I was disabled Sunday and then Wed. they reinstated my account..
they sent me this.
Hi Rebecca,
Facebook has limits in place to prevent users from abusing specific
features on the site. These limits restrict the rate at which you can use
certain features on the site. Unfortunately, we cannot provide you
with the specific rates that have been deemed abusive.
Your account was disabled because you exceeded Facebook's limits on
multiple occasions when using our Search features, despite having been
warned to slow down.
However, after reviewing your situation, we have reactivated your
account, and you should now be able to log in. Please be aware that if your
account is disabled again, we will not be able to reactivate it. Once
logged in, please slow down the rate at which you perform searches on
the site. We appreciate your cooperation going forward.
Thanks for your understanding,
User Operations

Warned to slow down .. multiple occasions??? What?
I'm not done, I requested more detailed information so that I won't risk losing my account again..

so I receive this just now... CAN they be any more vague????
Hi Rebecca,
Unfortunately, for security reasons, we are unable to provide specific
details in regards to the rates and quantities that we determine to be
abusive. If we determine that you are abusing a feature, any of
several on the site, you will be warned. Simply slow your activity, and your
account will remain active. Unfortunately, some email provider delay
the warning messages you receive to your email account. I'm sorry for
the inconvenience. We appreciate your cooperation going forward.
Thanks,

I'm not done.. I want them to provide me with information. Guess it's the Better Business Bureau?
dontjumpthegun replied on May 22, 2008 15:50 to the question "facebook account disabled" in Facebook:
Holy .. Facebook is really looking at an eye opener.
Same for me.. Lost my account sunday without notice.. unless you consider the two emails that were sent to my yahoo address (while using facebook!) I was disabled for persistant misuse of a feature. I wrote every address that facebook has, tried calling.. and I did have my account reinstated on Wednesday... however not before they made accusatory comments that they were going to reinstate my account but next time I'm done because I had been issued warnings for misuse so often... HUH?
I only ever received the one warning and two seconds later the disable notice.
I've wrote them expressing my concern that I'd like to have some idea just how much I can use the site, and how many warnings I was sent by who.. and from who??? What features warrant warnings...
No answer..
I've been writing letters to the Attorney General CA asking them if such service providers as Facebook have to have a more specific user guidline, Terms and Conditions, Codes of Conduct.. and complaint handling procedures so The people at Facebook can't just pick and choose how they want to act.. or even to respond. Considering they are such a large company there has to be some standards????
I dunno.. but I think I"ll check them out at the Better Business Bureau?
Good Luck everyone
