so its definitely a problem with that

same issue i have except i just got updated under ubuntu hardy with the songbird Version: Songbird 0.8.0pre, Build 797 (20081024205914)

and my library and playlists are gone (music still intact)

currently only playing items show album art. being able to show it when selected would be sweet.
