A comment on the problem ""We couldn't parse this feed" for valid url / feed" in twitterfeed:

The solution to my problem was somehow related to the server-side code that generated the RSS XML, specifically I think it was something to do with UTF encoding and 'BOM'. The feed itself was passing validation at http://feedvalidator.org, which would pick up on invalid dates. – Doug, on August 18, 2008 09:34

OK, thanks - I didn't even have that for info, so I suspect it's something to do with MSXML. I updated my code to MSXML6 and ensured the encoding for my XSLT files are all definitely UTF-8, and it seems the feed parses OK now.

"We couldn't parse this feed" for valid url / feed
Getting "We couldn't parse this feed, please check the URL is valid" for http://www.southend.gov.uk/news/feed.asp which Feedvalidator validates, has pubDate and GUIDs, and loads via browser.
