DougS replied on February 27, 2009 23:03 to the question "Is there a mechanism for banning/reporting spam-bot new fans in bulk?" in Plurk:
This is not a question about the individual accounts concerned, it's a question about the available mechanisms for addressing this when it happens, and ensuring that it doesn't happen in the future. Failing to understand the nature of the question isn't helping to soften my attitude to the system.
Three in ten minutes between 18:37 and 18:47 GMT today 27/2 (malc, cozbun, kevbird) all of which are empty accounts created very recently -- a pattern very similar to the start of the flood which occurred 9th October 2008.

Is there a mechanism for banning/reporting spam-bot new fans in bulk?I've been added as a fan by several spambots in quick succession once again, with the only suggestions being to stop my Plurks being world-viewable, and to ban each spambot individually.
There's no evidence that Plurk admins are taking the spambot issue seriously.
I shouldn't have to go through the same several-click sequence two dozen times in the next 24 hours -- if I find that I'm required to do that, should I just delete my account and abandon Plurk as clearly not competent to retain me as a user, as I should perhaps have done last time this happened?
(see similar topic from me in October 2008)
DougS replied on October 16, 2008 21:08 to the question "Can I stop myself appearing on "Interesting plurkers"? it turns me into a spam-magnet." in Plurk:
So I'm the first reply, one week on...
After I used the "contact us" form on Plurk, I had a reply from Alvin Woon as follows:
"we don't display people on the interesting page if they have their privacy setting set to something other than 'Allow the whole world to view my page'."
No middle ground, therefore, allowing a user to be visible-but-not-highlighted.
Consider this as notice: If I have another day like last Thursday, I'll delete my Plurk account.
DougS asked a question in Plurk on October 10, 2008 08:45:
Can I stop myself appearing on "Interesting plurkers"? it turns me into a spam-magnet.I've had 24 people become a fan of me over the course of 18 hours yesterday, between 2am and 8pm approx, UK time. 22 of those were obvious spammers -- users with empty profiles and plurks consisting primarily of commercial links or links to traffic-harvesting or banner-trading sites. The other two were (presumably legitimate) users with whom I've had no prior connection and of whom I've never heard.
I think this is because I appeared on the "Interesting plurkers" page for a while.
So I have two questions:
1. Does Plurk take anti-spam measures seriously?
2. Is there a mechanism whereby I can prevent myself appearing on the "Interesting plurkers" page ever again?-
DougS started following the problem "Blocking needs drastic improvement! - Can't block from user profile, etc." in Plurk.
DougS asked a question in Plurk on August 26, 2008 16:56:
How to block another user from their profile pageI want to block someone who is making repeated requests to add me as a friend.
It's easy to block someone who has commented already, but if an obvious spammer is repeatedly adding me as a friend even though I've declined them already, I should be able to block them even if they haven't already commented. How do I do that?
