Fixed!
Running a "Repair" on QuickTime (in the Programs section of the control panel) doesn't fix the issue. However, uninstalling QuickTime completely, then grabbing the latest build from the Apple website and installing it again, works like a charm. Fortunately Apple still do stand-alone releases of QuickTime, so I didn't have to mess with iTunes at all (other than making sure I was authenticated and able to play the music).
Sure would be nice to get to the bottom of this bug, should it reappear. Reinstalling QuickTime is a fairly painless ordeal though, I'm just glad I can continue using Songbird.
Thanks for the help :)-

M4P Protected files play 'silently' after update to 1.2The title says it all, protected files (DRM infested, your choice) play silently after the update. The timer moves, but I can't hear anything. There are no errors, and I can play the files fine in iTunes (I could also play them fine before the upgrade to 1.2).
I've reset my Songbird profile, reinstalled Songbird, iTunes and Quicktime, but still nothing. The best I seem to get is maybe half a second of the song (entirely random clicking on protected files). I'm on Windows 7 x64, with iTunes 8.2.023, Quicktime 7.6.2, Songbird 1.2. Let me know if you want more information.
