A comment on the idea "Index markers..." in SuperMegaUltraGroovy:
eden, I understand your frustration. Believe me, I've been missing this feature myself and look forward to including it in TapeDeck.
However, we can't commit to a specific timetable for this feature right now. If you're more comfortable holding off on purchasing TapeDeck until the features you need are shipping, I definitely respect that. – Daniel Sandler, on April 24, 2009 20:09
A comment on the idea "how about tapedeck for iphone?" in SuperMegaUltraGroovy:
It's not sanctioned, nor welcomed.
Rest assured that we're hard at work on an iPhone version of TapeDeck and while we welcome competition in the (already quite crowded) sound recorder app space, we do not appreciate other developers “ripping” (as you put it) our design and artwork. We've contacted the developers of that other app and asked them to make some changes to differentiate their product.
Thanks for pointing it out. – Daniel Sandler, on December 30, 2008 17:51

Daniel Sandler replied on May 15, 2008 00:54 to the question "how about a HIGHER quality? Broadcast Wave?" in SuperMegaUltraGroovy:
TapeDeck doesn't currently support BWF. We'll look into it and see if it makes sense for the product, but at the moment we have no plans for lossless recording formats.
We figured that the people who need megabit encodings (WAV, AIFF, etc) are using high-end recording tools and wouldn't be interested in TapeDeck, but it sounds like there's a niche of users like you who want the convenience of TapeDeck without compromising on fidelity.
It's certainly easier for us to introduce a "very high quality" that simply increases the AAC bitrate. Would 256 kbps be enough for you?
(PS: In case there's any confusion, TapeDeck uses only MP4-AAC; it does not support MP3.)
Daniel Sandler replied on May 13, 2008 04:08 to the question "Is TapeDeck only for Mac Leopard? I have Mac Tiger." in SuperMegaUltraGroovy:
Sorry, TapeDeck requires a number of Leopard-only OS-level features. See this prior forum thread for details.

Daniel Sandler replied on May 12, 2008 22:06 to the question "Are there limits on "tape" sizes in the registered version of TapeDeck?" in SuperMegaUltraGroovy:
Nope. No limits.
...At least, none imposed by TapeDeck. There are certain filesystems that don't like files larger than 2GB (e.g., iDisk) or 4GB (e.g. a FAT32-formatted flash drive), so don't use these as your TapeDeck storage directory. (Most users should be fine, as HFS+ supports files bigger than any currently available hard disk.)
A comment on the question "So what's this about importing..." in SuperMegaUltraGroovy:
Note that iTunes can perform the WAV→M4A conversion—just right-click the track in iTunes and choose "Convert to AAC" (assuming your iTunes import settings are set to encode AAC and not MP3). – Daniel Sandler, on May 12, 2008 12:51
Daniel Sandler replied on May 12, 2008 02:36 to the discussion "Website Intergration" in SuperMegaUltraGroovy:
Here's some quick HTML to get you started:
<embed src="http://yourserver/path/to/yourtape.m4a"
autostart="false" width="17" height="16" hidden="false" />
If you want to use a more compact controller, change the width parameter to 17. For an invisible movie, set hidden to "true". To have the track start automatically (useful if the controller is hidden!), change autostart to "true".

Daniel Sandler replied on May 11, 2008 03:05 to the question "Record from browser?" in SuperMegaUltraGroovy:
It is possible, but you'll need additional software to route the raw audio output from your internet radio to TapeDeck's input. I'd recommend Soundflower: http://www.cycling74.com/products/sou...
Follow the instructions on the Cycling '74 website for applications that do not allow you to select audio devices. That is, set your default output device (in the Sound prefPane) to be Soundflower, and your default input device to also be Soundflower.
We intend to write up some step-by-step documentation on this, since I expect it to be a common request (e.g. using TapeDeck to record Skype/iChat calls, streaming audio, and so forth).
