New window:
Nope, CSS can't do that, sorry :(
Link back:
Use the description field, where you have "The internet's interesting bits'n'pieces." right now. To add something there, switch into edit mode by clicking the pen icon (bottom left).
To make a link, use the little arrow button next to the text field (after bold and italic) when you're hovering over it with the mouse.

Thanks that has really helped.
Two more small questions - can i use CSS to get links to open in a new window?
AND
Can I have a link back to my site?
Thanks. – duncanbone@gmail.com, on May 13, 2008 14:27

Hi Duncan,
Glad to hear you're enjoying Soup!
A) It's much easier to get it to show on a subdomain, eg. http://blog.duncanbone.com -- would that be fine too?
To do this, you need to set something called a "cname record" for that domain: You can likely do that in the control panel of your web host or the registrar where you bought the domain -- the same place you would go to renew your domain, for example. Have a look around for some place to set "DNS records" for the domain, and specifically that "cname record"... let us know if you manage to find something.
B) Go to your Soup, open the settings panel (gear icon, bottom left) and open the "Skin" section. You'll see an "Edit CSS..." button, click that and enter the following at the bottom of the input box you get:
body { background: url('http://www.duncanbone.com/main_nav/bg.jpg'); }
You might want to also add something like this to make the text easier to read:
.post .content { background: white }
