Thanks, Andrew, I stand corrected. But the switch was well worth it for the claim comments alone. But as I said, I would have preferred to stay with ID, but they just didn't seem to think my past comments were important enough to allow me to claim them.

I hate to do this,but after months of trying to figure out this issue, I found that the answer was quite simple, I switched to Disqus which has this ability. I changed over four websites to Disqus, and am much happier about it. Not to mention its ability to login using openid and facebook to leave comments.

This is not an ad for Disqus, in fact I would rather not have gone through the change away from ID, but it seems like they didn't have a plan to address something so easy, and were unable to see the demand for this feature from the community.

I've been trying to find the answer to this for a while too, but it appears that at this moment it cannot be done, but I don't understand why not. I really think this should be a required piece of the puzzle.

If I made comments before I installed Intense Debate, I should be able to claim my whole history of comments on a website that I have owned and commented on for years.

Seriously, this is not a feature? Come on, this is not a very useful tool if I cannot claim all of the comments I have made on my own website in the past. After searching and searching for an answer to this, I think it's about time to switch to another system that will give me credit for what I have written on my own website.
