Eric Caron shared an idea in boxee on May 21, 2009 04:30:
Prevent Boxee from being opened multiple timesWhen loading Boxee via the remote, I just point to the exe. If I have multiple programs open, programs (like GBPVR) just bring themselves to the front when re-executed. Boxee presently launches a 2nd instance, rather than bringing itself to the forefront.
I'd imagine everyone would want it to regain focus, rather than launch a 2nd version. So my suggestion is to wrap the exe to prevent it from launching twice and, rather, on subsequent calls just regain focus & bring to front.

If you can point to some more international (free) databases of zip to lat/long, I'll happily incorporate them into the code. – Eric Caron, on May 12, 2009 12:17

Eric Caron asked a question in TweetDeck on February 23, 2009 18:35:
Why am I seeing UTF-8 code instead of the real characters? When looking at a tweet via tweetdeck, such as http://twitter.com/guykawasaki/statuses/1241662666, I see the "“" and "”". but when looking at it through the browser, I see the character as the poster intended.

After login, send user back to referring pageAfter login, Twitter sends the me to the last page loaded, rather than the page I was on when I clicked "Login".
To reproduce:
- Be logged out
- Load tab for twitter/personA (replace with whomever you want)
- Load tab for twitter/personB (again, pick your fave person)
- Go back to tab for personA, click "Login", and login
- You'll be sent to the page for personB
Expected result:
Step 5 should take you to personA-

Also, within the reports, I see the "last tweet" for all users (yesterday was 11) is the exact same tweet that I said. Although I do care what I said just before the signed up (perhaps it was what motiviated them to follow me), seeing it repeated & not seeing what they have said isn't an useful as this report could be.-

Convert geo-locations to human-readable locationsWhen the location says something like "41.791214,-87.600098", its just not that useful. Sure it looks cool, but that fades away quickly.
Instead, its easy to setup a system that quickly converts that to city/state. I setup an example here - http://geo2city.jobdig.com/ - its based in PHP, requires no database (just memcache) and I'll give you the source if you want it. There's also a python-based alternative in-progress that'll run easily on Google's AppEngine.

Resolving latitude/longitude to city/stateIt'd be great if Twhirl would resolve latitude/longitude to city/state. I've provided a sample framework for resolving this here - http://geo2city.jobdig.com/ (Let me know if you want the source code)
Its really frustrating when iPhone users post their geo-location, but I don't have my Atlas in front of me to figure out where they actually are!
