Well sheesh guys... I just got here... I haven't even formed an opinion yet. lol... (though it would be good if they took it off the options if it doesn't work... instead of telling you that it does and then leaving you high-and-dry trying to figure the dern thing out.)
Almost enough to make a girl shake her head and say 'tee-hee I don't know..." (ugk!) – Claire D'aire, on June 23, 2008 01:13

Good point, but at least they're being transparent of their problems and making you aware of them. I suppose it is better for new users because they can know that Twitter isn't usually like this. For example, 20 requests an hour really sucks, and 70 seems amazing, but new users would have no clue that we usually have 70, but currently have 20. So for the new users it's probably better.. but for the other users, it's probably quite bad. – Chris Thomson, on June 22, 2008 18:05

Everybody should be watching http://status.twitter.com/ now, which does clearly say that IM is not working. Twitter has been updating that page daily, if not more often.

Oh, cool... you saved me some research time. Thanks! So you've used the IM service, when it _was_ working that is... is that incoming or outgoing tweets? IOW, will I be updating my comments or getting the comments of those I'm following. It's not really clear. – Claire D'aire, on June 22, 2008 14:14-

Yes, Jabber and Google Talk are interchangable. The Jabber server for gtalk is talk.google.com. Currently though, the Twitter IM service (all of it) is down while Twitter stabilizes their web and api services. – Chris Thomson, on June 22, 2008 02:20

They have an RSS reader... is that what you mean... not quite as fun as the rss feeds on the iGoogle page... well before they broke iGoogle for Safari 1.2 :-( – Claire D'aire, on June 22, 2008 02:20

ty Gabor! Okay, I know I don't have _that_ version of iChat... (still on 10.3.9... ) I don't suppose Adium would work? But that's with Jabber... not gTalk (?) are the two interchangable? Off to research! – Claire D'aire, on June 22, 2008 02:16

GTalk IM Twitter device... mac?Well, supposedly I can set up my Gtalk account for twitter. But it tells me to send a message to twitter@twitter.com from gtalk... On a mac here... there is no stand-alone GTalk app. Is that what I need?
Oh and is this for sending twitters or receiving them?
