Tested it out and functionally it works, but as with anything involving syncml I find the results to be half-baked. Missing a lot of fields, including email addresses unless they are marked as the "Home" (not "Work" or anything else) address.

Need something with more finesse (which is why I'm using Soocial to manage my iPhone contacts in the first place!)

The funambol add-on does not work for Thunderbird 3 (yet). Assuming I'm not syncing with Google contacts, is there another way to sync with Thunderbird?

Add support for Identi.ca. The API is pretty much identical to Twitter, and there is only one other site I could find that does it (and I don't want to use it because it feels too marketing heavy).

Add a warning if you try and schedule tweets in the past. I'm finding occasionally I get the hour wrong, or forget to switch from AM to PM and I end up scheduling a tweet in the past, which effectively gets sent immediately.

wrt embedding a browser in your desktop app just of oauth authentication: I'm a bit leery of that solution, because you end up typing your user/pass into the application's browser window - there's no real guarantee that it isn't pinching those details while it's there.

Another way I thought would be to embed a small HTTP server into your application, so when you need to do oauth authentication it fires the request off to the browser, with a callback URL something like http://127.0.0.1:8765/oauthenticated

The port number would probably be chosen randomly or some such.

Would that work?

Five tweets is really not enough to decide if I want to follow someone - I almost always go to their profile page to get more info.

Just to add another data point. This problem does not occur when the browser asks for authentication (i.e., the pop-up dialog box in response to a HTTP 401 response).

I should also mention that the little status bar icon for foxmarks doesn't change to indicate unsync'd items for a few seconds after the new page is loaded. Sometimes even up to about 10 seconds.
