Ed Seah replied on November 09, 2009 11:05 to the question "Bug in the global leaderboard in metallica revenge" in Tapulous:
If you see the correct score and rank you should have attained with your new highscore at the bottom of the global leaderboard but do not see it reflected up on the leaderboard itself, that is due to server lag. Give it some time (might really take some time, not just a few minutes) and the leaderboard should update to reflect your new highscore.
Ed Seah replied on November 09, 2009 05:17 to the question "Elimination of downloaded tracks from store in TTR3?" in Tapulous:
What he means is that TTR3's Tap Tap Store does not indicate which of the free tracks have already been downloaded by you. As opposed to TTR2 where those that have already been downloaded vanish from selection, thus allowing you to know at a glimpse which are the new free tracks you need to download.
You did not do anything wrong iNexxFear, this is how the Tap Tap Store currently is. People have mentioned to Tapulous since game launch that they want a way to easily differentiate downloaded free tracks from those un-downloaded ones like that of purchased tracks where you can see a tick with the words "Purchased" below the song titles.
Tapulous has acknowledged this suggestion before if memory serves me right, so we should just wait and see if something gets implemented in the next update.
For now, there are 3 things you can do:
- Just do a "Batch Download" (where you automatically download all the songs of a particular difficulty level, though it tediously redownloads downloaded tracks) periodically to pick up new songs if there are any
- Check the "Recently Added" section of the Tap Tap Store regularly to look out for new releases
- Go through the "Free Tracks" section periodically and examine each song thoroughly.
A comment on the question "how are Coins/ Xp calculated?" in Tapulous:
Oops, typos above.
It should read:
Xp gained: Digits of Score from ten-thousandth place onwards
Coins gained: Digits of Score from thousandth place onwards / 2 (rounded down)
P.S. Is there lag on these forums? When I first replied to this thread, Brian's post had not appeared yet. Now when I look into this thread again, I see Brian had posted 1 hour before my original reply. How odd! – Ed Seah, on November 08, 2009 10:16
Ed Seah replied on November 08, 2009 08:25 to the problem "There was a glitch in TT3 coins and awards. Some are missing. Help!!" in Tapulous:
Hi there, you might want to post your TTR3 username and the amount of coins and which awards you are still missing in this thread: Did your level, points, or coins change unexpectedly?
Ed Seah replied on November 08, 2009 06:44 to the question "how are Coins/ Xp calculated?" in Tapulous:
The difficulty level does not directly affect the coin or xp conversion rates. They are both calculated from the score you achieve with any song.
Xp gained: Digits of Score from hundred-thousandth place onwards
Coins gained: Digits of Score from ten-thousandth place onwards / 2 (rounded down)
So if you score 1,433,178 for a song, you will get 143 xp and 716 coins from that.
That said, what you should do is try and master Hard and Extreme songs through practice. Those songs have the potential to give higher scores than Easy and Medium songs. Higher scores means more xp and coins.

Ed Seah replied on November 07, 2009 07:26 to the question "You know what? I have a really good Tap Tap Revenge 3 question that I'd like to know about Tapulous points and coins??" in Tapulous:
I think you do not get any points or coins if you simply hit the 'restart' button in the pause menu. The xp points and coins seem to be converted from your score only at the final results screen.
I remember this one time when I was trying to FC a particular song and kept stumbling midway and thus opted to hit the 'restart' over and over. When I finally FC'ed the song, the xp points and coins gained from that period of play was just that of the successful playthrough.
From then on, if I feel that I have to restart a song that I had already accumulated a meaty enough score to be converted to xp points and coins, I will 'end' the song to claim them first, then hit the 'replay' button from that screen. Only takes 5 or so seconds more than hitting the 'restart' button.

Hey Everyone --
We've got it sorted, the scripts are running now -- so by tomorrow everything will be back to normal. With millions of users it takes a little while...
I'll check back with you all once it's done to make sure you're all set.

I have noticed this too. The news feed is very laggy when it comes to challenges. Even though you can get a challenge pop-up through the Push service, you won't be able to find that same challenge when you immediately enter the news feed afterward.
You can see that challenge being reported in the text box at the main menu screen (what you noticed), but when you enter the news feed, it is just not there until much later on (I'm talking hours rather than minutes here). Sometimes, it also never even appears.

Hmm, smart point! The song that I had played did indeed end with two tappers that had to be held down. – Ed Seah, on November 04, 2009 15:21

Ed Seah reported a problem in Tapulous on November 04, 2009 15:01:
Inconsistencies in scores when submitted onto global highscore listAnyone else experienced instances where you finish a song with a certain score and the display screen where you see the experience and coins you gained as well as the local high scores tab shows that exact same score, but then when you look at the global high scores tab, your score is somehow minutely lower?
For instance, I just scored 1,210,007 on a song, and yet the global high scores list shows it as 1,209,918. There's a difference of 89, which is definitely minuscule but puzzling nevertheless. What exactly causes this to occur? I remember noticing this issue on a few other occasions right when TTR3 was released but did not post then because I had never experienced it again during the past three weeks or so. It has suddenly popped up again though.
P.S. I apologise in advance if this issue were to have already been brought to Tapulous' attention by others before. I did a search but it was hard to sieve through all the threads containing the words/phrases "scores" and "highscores" to possibly locate an existing thread on this issue.
