Connection error trying to download video
I have uploaded a Flash video that plays fine for me but not for my client. They receive this error:
    > Connection error while trying to download the video. Please refresh
    > your browser as necessary. If the error persists, likely the video
    > asset is unavailable. Contact the administrator for help.

I am on a Mac using Firefox and Safari. Both open it just fine. My client is running Vista and Internet Explorer 8. They are a government client and are limited in using other browsers, so they cannot load Firefox. What is the issue?

    Video does not play
I've been uploading Flash videos for the past month with no real problems. 2 days ago I posted the complete project, a 22:00 140mb FLV file at 640x360 (just like all the clips I had been uploading). It played just fine in Firefox on Windows and Mac for me and my client. Yesterday I uploaded the final video (same duration and specs). Today my client gathered senior execs in a conference room and went to play the video and it would not play. Progress bar moves across but it never plays. They called me and I opened Firefox on my Mac. After about 1/5th of the video loaded, I was able to play it. My client let it entirely load and it never played. Moving the playhead had no effect as it would not progress past the first frame. I closed and reopened Firefox and again went to the video, this time I experienced the same problem they were having (despite being able to play it minutes ago in a previous Firefox session). It never played. Thankfully, my client's IT person had another browser called Opera and when they loaded the site and this video in Opera it played. It should be noted that the client was able to play all previous videos I had uploaded.

This was a critical review of my project on what had previously been a stellar experience with Market7. This non-playback issue arose at the worst time. What was/is the cause of this?

I invited you to the project. Try one of the earlier videos listed there because I know my client had a problem with them. But yes, Firefox has solved everything so it's just been an IE issue.

    1. For the computer that is having trouble, are you saying that the video plays the first time you visit but will not play if you leave and try return to the same video?

    ANSWER: Exactly

    2. Is it happening on different computers on the client side or just a single computer? If it is on a single computer, which browser (and version of that browser) are they running? Also which version of flash are they running (you can find out by having them click on this http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewC... <http://adobe%20diagnostic> ) ?

ANSWER: Multiple Computers – WIN 10,0,22,87

    3. Does this happen on multiple videos or just a particular video? What type of video are you uploading (codec, container, etc. ie- Quicktime h.264 video, AAC audio codecs)

ANSWER: From a Mac originally from a FCP timeline. Encoded to Flash using Adobe Media Encoder CS4. FLV, 640x360, CBR, Bitrate 700 kbps, On2 VP6 Codec, Stereo 64 kbps MP3 audio

    4. When the video doesn't play, what happens when you refresh the cached page (holding down the shift key while pressing r will refresh the cache)? Does the video play if you do this?

ANSWER: Nothing – it’s as if the Play button doesn’t work – Since moving from IE to Firefox, things seem to be fine

    inconsistent PC player playback
My client has the following problem accessing the site: They play the video a couple times on one PC and then if I back out, it will not play again.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know someone is paying attention to the users. Using the service for the first time on a video with a remote client. Hope it proves it's worth. If so, it'll be a huge help as 90% of my clients are not local and we need to collaborate daily during edits. – EDPfilms, on July 22, 2009 03:23

More branding customization would be great
I would suggest better customized branding options. Adding my logo is fine, but it very much appears like it's just stuck in without thought to appearance. It would be good to allow full header customization so clients can truly identify that this is "our" site. If we could customize a header that stretched the width of the application and is an inch or so tall, that would be plenty of space to create more of a personalized feel.
