It won't upload Files that we already have. If we already have the Song in the system but its a File that we don't have it will upload that File. We're working on ways to limit what Files get uploaded based on the content we already have available (i.e. we have 10+ Files already for that song, don't upload a new File). If you want to have an idea of how many Files will get uploaded, just run the first stage of the uploader and any Files that show up in the list will be uploaded after you click Add.

If you only want only certain albums/files to upload, you can choose which folders/files to upload individually in the file picker rather then choosing your entire library.

We accept 44100 hz files and only 44100 hz (not at least 44100 hz as was stated above). Flash can only play the 44100 hz files at the correct rate, any other rate will cause the file to play to fast or slow. These files use to be uploaded but caused problems in Grooveshark. Therefore we simply don't upload them anymore. If you want to song to be available on Grooveshark it must be encoded at a 44100 hz sample rate, have artist and title tags for the file, and have a minimum bitrate of 128 kbps.

    Hi Christy,

We've checked those files in our database and found that they don't have any tags in the file. The reason Unknown Artist shows up is the system attached empty tagged songs to songs that contain no tags and you'll usually end up with those trashed songs in your library.

Unfortunately, due to a limitation on Grooveshark's end, fixing those tags an reuploading those files won't fix the files in your library. We are currently working on a better system to allow you have much more control over your library, as well as pointing out files with no tags before you even go through the upload process. Until then there is no easy way from your side to fix the problem.

The best way to prevent problems for now is to make sure any files you upload are properly tagged to prevent misidenfitication. Sorry for the inconvience, let us know if you have any additional problems or questions.

    Hey Jeremy,

Here are a few questions and suggestions. Are you saying the above console popped up without any input from you? Normally you have to press "Ctrl - D" to get that console output to appear, which makes it odd if it just displayed itself without any prompting.

Here is what I would suggest to see if you can get any useful output.

    1) Download the jnlp file and save it to your desktop.
    2) Double click on the icon to attempt to run it from your desktop to see if the same abnormal behaviour you described above occurs.
    3) If 2 doesn't work then I would suggest running the jnlp file from a DOS prompt. Navigate to the Desktop folder and simply run "javaws sharklet.jnlp" from the prompt. I'm hoping at this point you will actually get a helpful error message of some kind in the DOS prompt screen as the Java Console screen doesn't seem to be printing out anything useful.

Also, a final place to check for any error logs would be in your browsers temporary folder. Any debug output should be located in files marked as "groove1234shark.log", which 1234 being some random number. Let me know if you are able to get any useful information with the above suggestions or if you need help clarifying anything I just said.
