OK I figured it out. I had to set the MAMP DocumentRoot to something hierarchically >= where the virtualhosts pointed.
MAMP > Preferences > Apache > DocumentRoot
I just set it as my home directory since my sites reside in subfolders of my home directory (/Users/yourusername)
Then you can create virtualhosts pointing at or inside that directory (ie. /Users/yourusername/Sites)
I'm surprised I couldn't find these instructions anywhere. I did find the instructions for changing the DocumentRoot for OSX native apache, but for some reason I didn't put it together that I needed to do that via MAMP's control panel.
So for anyone using MAMP and VirtualHostX and getting a forbidden error or empty index pages, EXPAND YOUR DOCUMENTROOT!
Erik Kallevig reported a problem in ClickOnTyler on October 02, 2009 15:51:
Getting forbidden or empty index on MAMP/Snow LeopardI'm using MAMP on Snow Leopard and if I run the VHX (v2.0.6) setup wizard, it changes my MAMP ports to the MAMP defaults (8888 & 8889). When this happens, and I load a virtual host like this -- http://virtualhostname:8888 -- I get an empty 'Index Of' page, even though there are files there.
If I change the MAMP ports to the default apache/mysql ports (80 & 3306) like I want them, and then I load the virtual host like this -- http://virtualhostname -- I get a Forbidden page.
Any ideas how to fix this?

'Replace' functionality is broken, doesn't replace metadataWhen 'replacing' a photo, the metadata does not also get replaced. I imagine most people use Aperture to organize their library and then use this plugin to post that library (or portions of it) to the web. I also imagine that most people make changes to their photos and metadata over time (retouching, reorganizing, etc.). The 'replace' photo functionality works great for subsequent changes you make to the photo itself, but you can't replace the metadata as well, which kind of defeats the purpose since you're only 'replacing' part of the image. To update everything, you must delete the photo from flickr and re-upload an entirely new version (not acceptable) or manually make changes on flickr.com (not acceptable).
What's worse, is that the 'export' screen displays the updated metadata in the various fields for a photo, making you think that data will be replaced on flickr, but when the upload is complete, that data is obviously not there. This feels like a pretty serious bug to me in that it forces you to get everything right the first time and essentially negates the value of the partially implemented 'replace' functionality.
What would obviously be the ideal situation (which I've seen suggested elsewhere) is to not only fix this bug so that the metadata is replaced as well, but to add the option to 'only replace metadata' for the instance where you've changed metadata but not the photo itself. This would, of course, save big in bandwidth and processing. I've also seen it suggested that any data you change on flickr.com should be imported back to aperture somehow (2-way sync), which sounds nice but also sounds complicated.
Just fixing the 1-way sync would probably be enough for most people right, since the workflow probably goes 'edit in aperture' -> 'upload to flickr'. Right now it's more like 'edit in aperture once and get it right the first time' -> 'upload to flickr'.
Thanks for this plugin and thanks for listening to this feedback!

I was about to suggest this exact idea. Often times people will go back and re-organize / re-tag photos later and it would be great to have the option to only upload the new data, to avoid all the processing and bandwidth required for photo uploads. However, even the 'replace photo' feature of this plugin does NOT update any new metadata (only the photo), which is the bigger problem.-

Erik Kallevig shared an idea in Delicious Monster on February 24, 2009 14:03:
Delicious Library as Home Inventory AppI've been looking for home inventory software for the mac but there's really only one product out there: Home Inventory by Binary Formations and it is woefully out of date. With a few very minor modifications, I think Delicious could easily fill this gap (in fact, looking at the category types like apparel, tools, etc, it seems silly that you can't already do this). I think you could really sell delicious from a different "financial responsibilty", "insurance proof" or even "business inventory" angle then, and not just the "hey check out my dvd collection" angle. As far as I can tell here are the modifications it would require:
* multiple, full-size photos per item (video would be good too but not required)
* custom categories
* take photos with iSight
* an iPhone companion app would be super handy for delicious in general (and I saw that one may be in production), but being able to walk around your house/business to take inventory (even if it's just still photos) with the iphone camera would be excellent.
* maybe some more reporting options (with values, categories, etc)
I think that's really it. The first two items on the list are the only true must-haves. What do you think? (forgive me if this has already been suggested)

Ah ok -- I was thinking drag'n'drop was the issue and that the actual reorder callback function would be platform agnostic. Yeah I've just been looking around at a bunch the todo list web apps and haven't found any that allow easy reordering via a mobile version (iPhone or otherwise), although I haven't paid to use the rememberthemilk iPhone version, which is supposed to be pretty nice. Anyhow, you've got a nice app going here--good work!
