Add support for getting contact info from LDAP/ADCompanies often have an authoritative source of contact data in the form of LDAP or Active Directory (AD). Some webmail providers (e.g. Fastmail) support exporting address book information as LDAP as well. Xobni should have the ability to query a (set of) LDAP servers for contact information. Outlook can be configured to access these servers so maybe Xobni can just take advantage of that.

security warning from Google auth request.GMail's auth page says "Warning! This website is registered with Google to make authorization requests, but has not been configured to send requests securely." What does that mean?

Geolocation does not sound like the right approach. My Twitter vantage point suggests that people often are interested in subscribing to others outside of their particular place to get a better view of what's going on elsewhere. e.g., you can't attend SXSW but you want to know what's happening there.
I proposed namespaces and tags on my blog (http://www.emilsit.net/blog/archives/...); combined with flexible subscriptions, it'd be pretty useful for categorizing messages and allowing API clients to present messages in a more useful manner (in re @Ross Goodman).
To deal with spam, you would need to preserve the option of only hearing people whom you follow. To enable discovery, in a later release, you could disable this filter and take anyone posts to a given namespace/tag (i.e. subscribing to the public timeline with a given namespace/tag match).

Should the latest tweet be the current status if it is an @reply?@replies are not about "What are you doing?" But more about conversation. Maybe there should be an option to have things that start with @name (as opposed to those who mention @name just to get someone's attention or give someone props) excluded from being displayed as a current status.-

Is there a good way to follow conversations between people? It seems like right now, to follow public conversations, you have to keep clicking through to different @user pages. Facebook's wall-to-wall lets you easily follow conversations between users that you are friends with (i.e., follow). Am I missing some similar feature?
