Emily gave praise in Spock on February 01, 2009 02:20:
Spock made me rethink data privacy. You know, I have to say that I was initially very angry upon seeing my personal information on Spock. When I was told that the information their system culled from the web--my Facebook and Myspace info--wasn't private, and I'd need to make it private before they would, I was furious. Yes, it was information that was easily obtainable elsewhere, but I didn't want it on another website, all in one place! I felt violated!
While I'm still wary of Spock, I will say that it made me evaluate how much information about myself I was putting on the Internet. It made me weigh the risks of putting so much online. I decided to delete my Myspace, and my Facebook account is no longer searchable, nor can it be seen by anyone not on my friends list.
In truth, while Spock may make the search easier, it's not at all difficult for someone to find the exact same information about you using Google. If you feel like your privacy is being violated when you see something on Spock, you should reconsider your responsibility in the matter.
Also, Spock staff responds very quickly to e-mail questions and is friendly (Even when I was a little cold to them. Sorry, guys!) Try sending a question (that isn't already answered) to info@corp.spock.com

Emily reported a problem in Flock on August 03, 2008 06:40:
Twitter bugs - messages, updates, dead linksI've been dealing with several Twitter issues since I installed Flock.
1.) It tells me I have 9+ new messages every time I open it in the sidebar. They're the same direct messages I've had every time. I've read them.
2.) There are serious lags with updates. Currently, someone who has updated several times in the last hour is reported as having updated 11 hours ago.
3.) When I use the Actions drop-down menu to investigate people's profiles I get a "this page doesn't exist" message from Twitter.
For the record, I'm running Mac OS X. I've gone through "preferences" and done the "force update" fix and this hasn't resolved it.
Emily replied on June 13, 2008 00:37 to the question "How do I delete a website from my page?" in Spock:
I got it fixed by e-mailing Spock:
info@corp.spock.com
I got a prompt e-mail reply. I was told to flag the link as personal, which didn't work, or to e-mail them back with the link I wanted to be removed. I did so, and I'm marking this as solved on good faith.
If it doesn't get fixed, I'll change my mind.
A comment on the question "Unable to remove Live Search results" in Spock:
This still isn't working. – Emily, on June 13, 2008 00:25-

Emily asked a question in Spock on June 12, 2008 23:33:
What is the Spock Address Book Import Robot? What is the Spock Address Book Import Robot?
Is it owned/programmed/run by Spock?
How does it work?
Where does it get its information?
Emily asked a question in Spock on June 12, 2008 23:22:
How do I delete a website from my page?I thought you had a pretty cool site, but somehow a robot--Spock Address Book Import Robot-- added a website to my page that I DO NOT WANT LINKED TO MY NAME.
I was very careful about that, even set up a separate e-mail account for it and everything, and now it's linked to my name right on my page. I am INCREDIBLY unhappy with this. I'm fuming. I tried to play nice with you guys, set up an account and even added some links myself, but this is not appreciated.
I voted "not relevant" but the link is still there. I would like to know how remove it.
