Emmy replied on December 12, 2009 23:31 to the question "Website pointing to Yola and an external custom domains. Possible?" in Yola:
Hi beachtravels,
Yep, this is possible! You will just need to buy a domain from Yola and then add it to the site that is published to the domain that is not from Yola. You can keep the other domain as the primary. You will then be able to set up email with the Yola purchased domain.
Here is what you would need to do:
1. Create a new site. When you first login to Yola you will be on the My Sites page, there is a red button that says "Create New Site".
2. Publish the second site just as you published the first one, and purchase the domain name that you would like to use for the other site.
3. Close the site builder and go back to the My Sites page on the Yola website. Scroll to the bottom and check the box next to "Enable Advanced Domain Settings".
4. Scroll back up to the top and click on the link "Advanced Domain Settings".
5. A new page will open. If you bought the domain from Yola, it will already be listed on the page and you will be able to click on the drop-down menu to assign it to the site you would like to use it for.
6. Click on "Click to apply changes".
By assigning a domain as "Primary Domain", this will be the canonical (primary) domain and the one the other domains will redirect to. You can keep this as the site you have always had the site published to.
You can then set up email for that domain, here is a link to a tutorial with more information on how to do this: Creating email addresses with a domain purchased from Yola.
I hope this helps, let us know if you have any further questions.

Hello dushyanthalk,
Thanks for letting us know what you are interested in seeing in Yola. Some of the things you mentioned are all ready possible, here is some information.
There are quite a few styles that have a left hand vertical navigation. If you take a look at the Yola Style Guide you will be able to filter all of the styles to find the ones with this attribute. Here is a link: Yola Style Guide.
If you want to track statistics on your site we would suggest adding Google Analytics which will help you do this. Here is a link: Adding Google Analytics.
You can add a forum to your site and we have a Knowledge Book with a few options for doing this. Here is a link: Adding a Forum.
You can add a site search to your site using a few different options, here is a link with more information: Adding a Site Search.
I hope this helps!

Hello dwpellarin,
I'm sorry you are having this problem. Is this problem with your site in the Site Builder or with your published site and are you able to give us a screen shot of the error message you are seeing. Also, if you can tell us your url that would be helpful.
Thanks,

Emmy replied on December 11, 2009 20:28 to the problem "Will Not Update!" in Yola:
Hi Chris,
I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem and would like to get it worked out as quickly as possible. Can you do a few things for me please and then give Updating another try:
1. Clear your browser's cache. This link has more information: Clear your browser's cache.
2. Try loading the site in a different browser (eg. Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer). We would suggest using the Firefox browser as this browser seems to work best in the Yola environment. It is a free download if you would like to give it a try: Download Firefox.
Please let us know if either of these suggestions solves your problem.

Emmy replied on December 11, 2009 00:27 to the question "Google Custom Search - don't know how to add it to my site" in Yola:
Hi Katie,
I know this can be confusing (the computer talk) and I will try to give you some various options for a site search and instructions on how to add them:
You can add a Google site search box by using the Widgetbox Gallery:
This widget will search your site's pages.
1. Drag and drop a Widgetbox Gallery widget onto your page.
2. A dialogue box will open, in the search box type "Site Search".
3. Then click on "Search Your Site With Google". This will search just your site, but there will be a Google icon on the widget and possible ads.
4. Add your domain to "Site to Search"
4. Click on the green 'Get Widget' button and it will be saved and added to your page.
6. Save and preview your page to view the widget.
You can also use a free site search service called siteLevel:
This will search the pages of your site.
1. Go to siteLevel.com.
2. Fill in your email address and domain name.
3. Click Sign Up
4. Hightlight the Javascript Search Box option and copy it
5. In the Site Builder drag and drop an HTML Widget onto your page. The HTML Widget is located on the content sidebar and is a little blue circle.
6. Paste the code into the dialog box and click "OK".
7. Save and preview your page to view the search box.
You can also add a Google Custom Search engine, but this one requires that your site be index to work. Here is a link to the tutorial on how to do this: Google Custom Search Engine.
I hope this will help, let us know if you have any questions.

A comment on the question "error when opening website" in Yola:
Hi Michael,
I have taken a look at your site in Firefox, IE7 and IE8 and do not get Adobe trying to open on my computer. This might be a setting on your computer. I do see that you have a PDF on your site, it might be due to this. If you remove the PDF does Adobe still try to open? Possibly try removing the PDF file and re-adding it. Let us know how that goes for you.

Hello copilotchuck,
You do need to have two A Records set up to support the www and non www version of your domain. You need to have one A Record with the hostname "@" and one with the hostname "www".
If you have any trouble with this please email us at support@yola.com and we can look into it further for you. – Emmy, on December 10, 2009 22:52

Hello Ember,
Unfortunately at this time there is not a member registration feature in Yola. You might want to look into Google Friend Connect or the Password Protection Feature, possibly one of these will help you create what you are wanting to.
Kind Regards,
Emmy
