ok this is how i solved this.. after i added twitter to my gtalk (in miranda) and it wasone of my contacts, I pasted that security code (in green) in the test window and sent.. got a reply immediately :) all is working well now.... oh and I also sen the word "on" (without "")

same issue, I'm using pidgin. However, i should be getting twitter updated on Gmail also when you have GTalk enabled. so, it should not be just the IM program.
