When the plurk is karma related, mitigated by karma, or made expressly to deal with karma. It is utterly boring. Just avoid people that do so and it's a rewarding place where conversations tend to take place easily.
Staff have been pretty adamant in the past about karma not "going away"... but they are also constantly tuning the system.
I've learned to stop working andlovedeal-with the bomb.

Actually, I found Plurk to be interesting the first couple of weeks. Not sure if it's just my group (which was really broad) which indeed had some interesting conversations. Now most of that has made place for, what Entelekheia describes, people who just plurk often to raise their Karma capital. – Empee, on October 02, 2008 07:51-

I suppose one can think of Plurk as a game where Karma is the reward, or one can ignore the Karma altogether and just concentrate on following like-minded people and having an occasional conversation with them.
To me, Karma is a measurement of how often someone plurks, not how often they have something to say. Since it doesn't really tell me anything more than that, I tend to ignore it and people who hoard it.

(Not really into astrology but if you are really going to implement this...)
Keep in mind that some people might follow sidereal astrology where the signs are different than in tropical astrology. For example, I'm a capricorn in the tropical zodiac but a sagittarius in sidereal zodiac, so you can't automatically assign a sign to people.
Also, considering the fact that there are plurkers all around the world you should probably also provide badges for the Chinese and Indian zodiac. I, personally, would feel offended if I couldn't have a snake as my zodiac sign. :)
(For those interested, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zodiac might be a fun read.)

"Now don't you happen to know how to change the color of the bar that separates the days"
The vertical bars? Try something like:
.day_bg .div_inner {
background-image: none;
background-color: #aaa;
}
Or if you want to be more precise:
#timeline_bg .day_start .day_bg .div_inner {
background-image: none;
background-color: #aaa;
}
Both work.
Unfortunately, you'll lose that cute arrow at the bottom, unless you use your own background image.

Thank you so much, Entelekheia!
Your response was useful. Now don't you happen to know how to change the color of the bar that separates the days [I thought changing the time-bar color, would also change the day-bar color] – marina, on August 14, 2008 00:34

Thanks very much clickykbd. I didn't expect much of the badge... but come on :) at least some stupid gimmick would be cool. A light saber to fight off annoying plurkers maybe?! a little bonsai gadget to look after? ;) Or maybe a baby king kong to raise? I don't know ;) f**k... something, you know. ;)
