A comment on the question "CS3 Only?" in Topaz Labs:
hi Eric, thanks for updating the page. I went ahead and bought CS3 last night (yes, I know kinda dumb just to upgrade for a plug-in. i have been looking at it but was going to budget it for next year. Reshuffle the budget and made the plunge. So yes I'm one of those people who could afford it). And I also apologize for the photoshop discount comment: not too professional. Feeling better :-) – blackcro55, on August 28, 2008 19:52

Thanks for the feedback. I apologize if you've bought Adjust and you can't use it at all because you only have Photoshop CS. If this is the case I understand why you're upset and I'll gladly refund the order.
Your suggestion to change the compatibility page is also good. I'll be doing so shortly.
A discount to Topaz Vivacity is no problem, as we often give discounts and free product to people who help us in some way. However, Vivacity is also only compatible on CS3, so I fail to see how that would help? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks!

Eric, I'm disappointed. No where on the main page does it list Adjust as compatible with CS3 only. Sure it runs on intel mac. I'm very familiar with intel macs as I have one. However Photoshop CS3 is not the only photoshop that runs on an intel mac. Yes it is the only photoshop that is NATIVE, however any version of photoshop older than 5 runs on an intel mac. Thus it is not obvious that Adjust runs ONLY with CS3. Nor can anyone afford the upgrade prices for photoshop.
I would be happy and satisfied if Topaz added to their compatibility page the mac versions. I would also be happy with a discount to Vivacity since I am very aware that you do not work for adobe.
So let's be accurate please. You've given good support to the other forum users here (which was partly why I decided to buy Adjust).
Eric Yang replied on August 28, 2008 17:17 to the problem "Zoom Out doesn't work past 100%" in Topaz Labs:
Hi,
Unfortunately Topaz Vivacity does default to 200%, and I can understand how that could be an issue. The zoom should go all the way down to 25%, however, unless the entire image is displayed on the screen. You can also adjust the window size in the Mac version.
In the new version of Topaz Adjust the preview system will be a lot better as well. There will be a "fit to screen" button as well as a "100%" view, and the default will be a lot more reasonable.
Thanks!
Eric

Topaz Adjust is compatible with what's on that page for Windows. Because on the Mac it's only compatible with Intel-based processors (as is prominently displayed on the main page), it only works on CS3 for Mac because that's currently the only existing version of Photoshop running on Intel processors.
We don't develop Adobe Photoshop, Adobe does. If you'd like a discount, I'd suggest contacting them. Thank you.

Not happy because your web page says CS compatibility. So will you be able to give me a discount to buy CS3?

Ron:
The maximum image size that Topaz Adjust will currently handle is 24 megapixels. 12x8 at 300dpi should be fine.
If you're using the Mac version, look for the update coming in a few days. (Windows update is already out.) It makes the previews much faster and improves the overall stability of the filter.
Thanks!
Eric
Eric Yang replied on August 27, 2008 21:35 to the question "Photoshop does not recognize the plug-in" in Topaz Labs:
Yes, you should have presets. I'm glad you got the actual filter running, though.
For the presets problem try this. If it still doesn't work let me know.
Thanks!
Eric

This is a known problem. We actually already released a fix to it on the Windows version and we're working on a Mac fix right now. It should be out within a couple of days, please check back then. In the meanwhile look here for a few suggestions that may help:

Thanks Eric. I thought I purchased the Mac version, but I can't verify it at this point. I mailed sales[at]topazlabs.com with the info as you suggested Aug. 25, and again Aug. 26 but I haven't received a reply yet. I hope to hear back soon. Again, thanks for your help. – SteveO, on August 27, 2008 12:30

Eric Yang replied on August 26, 2008 16:31 to the question "AVG says there's a backdoor trojan in the Topaz Adjust download." in Topaz Labs:
Oh okay - it looks like you had the old Topaz Adjust v2.2 with setup.exe included in the installer.
We've since removed setup.exe in v2.3 because Avast was giving some users trouble with it. The .msi file that we currently use has not had any problems.
I'm glad you got it resolved! Let me know if you have any more issues.
Jean replied on August 26, 2008 16:25 to the question "AVG says there's a backdoor trojan in the Topaz Adjust download." in Topaz Labs:
Hi Eric,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. AVG picked it up in three spots:
Programs\topazadjust_setup.zip -- Trojan horse BackDoor.VB.DIY
Programs\topazadjust_setup.zip:\topazadjust22_setup\setup.exe -- Trojan horse BackDoor.VB.DIY
Programs\topazadjust_setup\topazadjust22_setup\setup.exe -- Trojan horse BackDoor.VB.DIY
After sending my e-mail to you, I uninstalled Topaz Adjust, then downloaded the new version 2.3 (I think) and installed that. The AVG scan after that did not report any problems. Hopefully, that first report was a glitch?
Jean

Hi Jean,
Apologies for any inconvenience. We'd never put a virus into any of our applications but we can understand this is a very serious matter.
First please confirm that you've downloaded the software from our website (www.topazlabs.com).
If so, I believe we already tried to fix the problem due to other customer feedback. What does the anti-virus say when it complains about a virus?
It's quite possible that AVG is picking up a false positive (other customers had reported that this was the case) but it's good to make sure.
Thanks,
Eric
