You do not need to have iTunes installed for the iPod extension. Does the iPod show up as a mounted volume on your computer?

I've created a Songbird bug at "http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show_bug.cgi?id=14291" for this issue. Can you attach your iTunes library XML file to the bug or at least a snippet of track information from the XML file that would demonstrate this problem?

There's probably some issue with how the iTunes importer is handling URL's for your music on your home server. Can you post the "location" entry from the XML file for a track and the "File Location" entry from Songbird for the same track imported with the iTunes importer?

Is your iPod configured for disk mode? If it is not, iTunes will open up when you plug your iPod in and then dismount the iPod, causing it to disappear in Songbird. – Erik Staats, on September 18, 2008 14:22

Unfortunately, it won't be for a while. Apple's made the interface to the iPhone and iPod touch very proprietary. The only way anyone's done it, other than iTunes, is with a jailbroken iPhone.

Have you configured your iPod to sync with Songbird? This is required for the playcount sync.

I can add the last play time as a feature request. Is it not updating the playcount with the number of plays on the iPod? That would be a bug since it should already do that.

I'm not sure I follow you. Are you saying that iTunes does not sync the track playcount/last time played with the iPod? Or are you saying that Songbird does not do that?
Songbird should update the track playcount with the number of plays on the iPod whenever the iPod is attached. It currently does not update the last played count.

Bug 10440 was closed because Songbird QA could not reproduce the issue. I've created a new bug (http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show...) with some information on how users can help provide some debugging information.

I've created bug 11380 (http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show...) for the Japanese character file issue. Can you zip up a sample file and attach it to the bug? By zipping it, you should be able to preserve the file name.
