I think what might be causing the duplication is when you save over the file in your assets folder. Somehow it lists the "old" file and the new one both in the list. What's annoying about this is that when you open your mockups after updating the file, all of the images say "file not found" and you have to re-point them to the correct file (which you only have a 50/50 chance of picking the right one the first time). Some of my mockups have a lot of images since I use them for icons, so this can be quite tedious.
Short term, is there any way to purge the list?-

Could this be done with the use of text wrappers similarly to how *bold* _italics_ and [links] work? How about {disabled text}? Don't know if the curly brackets are an option....
Use Case: I use the table tool to simulate a property inspector object. There are times when I need a property to be displayed to the user for informational purposes, but disabled.-

Here is a work-around
1. Create a rectangle object & select the color you want for the background (you can use the opacity control to get pastels)
2. Remove the border.
3. Use the *text area* object instead of text field.
4. Lay it on top of your rectangle and set the opacity as low as possible.
Voila!

Revision: I now have a mockup that seems to be permanently broken. If I export the bmml, then import, it will work correctly UNTIL I save it. Once the mockup is saved, I lose all ability to import new images or edit existing ones. It wouldn't be a big deal except that I use images frequently for icons.
Erika.Cooper replied on October 28, 2009 13:54 to the question "How can I get rid of all of this blank space?" in Balsamiq:
(Melody and I work together)
We ended up getting it taken care of, but what appeared to be happening is that there was a rectangle object at the bottom center of her screen. It was transparent, had no border, was locked, and appeared to be linked to something even though she was using the online version that does not support linking. Each time that I unlocked it and moved it, it still appeared to be in the same place. At one point I had about 10 linked rectangles on her screen. Finally what we did was export the mockup, clear, then exit the browser completely, restart, clear mockup again, then import the mockup again. We had already tried this without the exiting the browser step and that didn't work.
Erika.Cooper reported a problem in Balsamiq on October 27, 2009 22:13:
Undoing image deletion breaks image propertiesBalsamiq Desktop
To reproduce:
1. Add an image object to your mockup
2. Import an image
3. Delete the image object
4. Undo
This will cause the application to "hang". After you use the task manager to shut it down and reopen, your mockup will appear in it's last saved state like it should, BUT the image inspector no longer contains controls for importing or linking. As long as the corrupt mockup is open, no images can be edited. If you add a new image object, it also is uneditable. The only way I have found to fix this is to export the mockup text, delete the bmml file, close all mockups, then in a fresh mockup, import your text and re-save it.
What happens to the inspector:
