hii i woke up one morning to find out that the top of my screen didnt work.. you can see all of the icons but the top half does not react if it is touched.. it is really annoying and i bought this iphone from a friend with no warranty. Is there a way that i can get it replaced at the apple store if there is no warranty or contract with at&t? or does anyone have a way that i canfix it myself? I already tried restoring it....

We get tons of emails from customers about water damage and drop damage. All I can say is invest in a good quality case. Do not purchase a case simply for its looks as most of those designs do not offer protection. If you need help picking out a case drop me a note as we carry waterproof and the OtterBox Defender cases for daily use. I use the Defender Case personally and I am not gentle with my phone.
Let me know if I can help.

Simply air drying, putting in rice, or wiping off is NOT enough! You will need to get some Silica Gel Packets (http://www.silicagelpackets.com) and place your phone in a zip-lock bag with the Silica Gel Packets. Wait a day and it should pull all moisture from the components of your phone.
Silica Gel is made to absorb moisture and will dry out your from inside/out.

If it is really cheap, I'd buy it if you don't. If water seal is broken simply place it in Silica Gel Packets for a few hours or a day and then try it. It is worth a shot! You can get the Silica Gel Packets online from several web sites but we get them from www.SilicaGelPackets.com as they offer Priority or Overnight shipping and are cheap!

My iphone which I bought 9 days ago said the hard goodbye this weekend. All I have to say is there were two forties drank at bedtime and it was a bad idea. Anyway, I left it in the fridge for all of Sat and Sun and that didn't work. Then I thought it was dead and left it in my hot car for two more days. I tried plugging it in last night and the little apple showed up and then the battery. I was very excited to say the least. Then I got all of my missed calls and texts but low and behold, the touchscreen did not work. I had had it in brown rice and had ordered the silicone packets that absorb moisture. They came in today. Within three hours of using the silicone packets my iphone is up and running. There is some hesitation when scrolling down the contacts list but everything is operational. Very, very cool and a great way to save the $250 I was going to have to pay to fix it or the $400 to replace. Highly recommended.

although your iphone has two speaker compartments, only one of them is a speaker, the other is the microphone. – steves, on August 09, 2008 03:20

I dropped my iPhone while running in from the car during a storm, I let it air dry and would not work. I found an article on iphoneatlas.com and said to dry out your iphone you needed to place it in a zip-lock bag with Silica Packets and linked to: http://www.silicagelpackets.com
I ordered some via Priority Mail and let the phone air dry until I got them. I simply placed then in a zip-lock bag and let them in there overnight and tried the phone the next day and it worked perfectly. Maybe it will work for some of you as well, not sure the exact link to the article but you should be able to find it via the web site.
